Staff Nurse - PICU

Role Overview

Staff Nurse in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at SEHA.

Role Purpose

To deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients, supervise clinical staff, and uphold organizational standards in a high-acuity care environment.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Practice

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using evidence-based practices.
• Monitor patient conditions, escalate care as needed, and apply early warning tools.
• Manage pain assessment and treatment according to guidelines.
• Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with healthcare facility policies.
• Utilize electronic health records (for example, Malaffi) efficiently.

Leadership & Supervision

• Demonstrate critical thinking, conflict management, and problem-solving skills.
• Promote interdisciplinary teamwork and act as a role model for nursing staff.
• Supervise junior nurses and students, ensuring safe and effective patient care.
• Participate in organizational change and perform in-charge duties when delegated.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor Degree in Nursing OR Associate Degree in Nursing from Canada or USA with minimum two years course duration.
• Successful completion of the National exam: NCLEX-RN (USA) or Licensing Exam (Canada).
• Minimum two years clinical experience post qualification.
