Role Overview

Sr. Technical Professional - Structural at KBR, responsible for the design, specification, and delivery of structural engineering services across a range of project types and materials.

Role Purpose

Design, specify, and deliver structural engineering solutions for concrete, steel, wood, and engineered product structures. Apply independent judgment to solve complex problems, mentor junior engineers, and lead structural discipline work on projects of varying scale.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Engineering

• Design structures, foundations, platforms, bridges, pipe racks, and buildings using concrete, steel, wood, and engineered products.
• Devise new approaches to problems encountered in structural design.
• Plan, schedule, and conduct work requiring independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
• Perform work involving conventional engineering practice with complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements.

Technical Guidance & Mentorship

• Provide technical guidance to designers and less experienced engineers.
• Coach and develop lower-level professionals.
• Conduct employee performance appraisals for team members.

Project Leadership

• Lead the structural discipline on small projects or segments of larger projects.
• Plan, budget, organize, coordinate, and control project work.
• Manage responsibilities for cost containment, efficiency, profitability, and operations.

Qualifications & Experience

• Undergraduate degree in Engineering.
• Minimum 4 years of related structural engineering experience.
• Average experience ranging from 6–10 years.
• Sufficient professional experience to assure competence as a fully trained professional.
• Broad knowledge of structural precedents.
• Licensed or Chartered Professional Engineer certification preferred.
