Role Overview

Senior Manager, Middle East Africa (MEA) and Turkey at Johnson & Johnson, located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. This role provides senior legal support for DePuy Synthes operations across MEA and Turkey.

DePuy Synthes is the orthopaedics business, announced to separate and operate as a standalone company within 18 to 24 months. Following the planned separation, you would become an employee of DePuy Synthes, governed by its employment processes, programs, policies, and benefit plans.

Role Purpose

Provide strategic legal counsel and oversight across MEA and Turkey markets, advising on distributor and indirect channel operations, managing commercial relationships, ensuring regulatory compliance, and enabling sustainable business growth while balancing legal risk with commercial objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Distributor and Channel Management

• Provide strategic legal support for distributor and indirect market operations across multiple jurisdictions
• Advise the business on structuring, appointment, management, and termination of distributor relationships
• Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements relating to distribution, agency, channel partner, sales, supply, marketing, service, and related commercial arrangements
• Manage disputes and performance issues involving distributors and channel partners, including escalation and enforcement of contractual rights
• Coordinate with external counsel where required for distributor and channel matters

Business Growth and Risk Management

• Support business growth in distributor markets by enabling expansion and developing pragmatic, scalable legal solutions
• Manage legal risk in new channel models, balancing compliance with commercial objectives
• Manage and oversee legal risk assessment, mitigation strategies, and compliance initiatives across assigned markets

Advisory and Stakeholder Engagement

• Provide legal guidance to business leaders across MEA and Turkey to ensure alignment with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies
• Act as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders, partnering cross-functionally with commercial, finance, compliance, and other teams
• Serve as liaison with external counsel and regulatory bodies, ensuring effective management of legal matters and outside counsel activities

Governance and Compliance

• Drive consistency and efficiency in legal processes, including development and implementation of policies, procedures, and tools
• Monitor and interpret legal and regulatory developments, providing proactive guidance and training to impacted teams
• Support ethics and compliance training initiatives, promoting a strong culture of integrity across the region

Strategic Initiatives

• Lead and support regional legal projects and initiatives aligned with business priorities and organizational strategy
• Champion the transformation of legal service delivery through effective use of AI, automation, digital platforms, and emerging technologies
• Reimagine legal workflows and operating models to deliver legal services more efficiently and drive greater business value

Qualifications & Experience

Education

• Bachelor's degree required
• Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree required
• Admission to practice law in at least one jurisdiction required

Required Experience

• 8–10 years of experience providing legal counsel within a corporate, law firm, or in-house legal environment

Preferred Experience

• Experience supporting MEA and/or Turkey markets
• Familiarity with healthcare regulations, commercial compliance, and industry standards
• Exposure to legal technology tools, process optimization, and automation initiatives
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, evolving business environment
• Strong business acumen with a collaborative, solutions-oriented mindset

Additional Information

• Language Requirements: Fluency in English and Arabic required
• Travel: Up to 20% (primarily within Europe)
• Certifications: Bar admission must be maintained as applicable
