Sr. Electrical Engineer

Role Overview

Sr. Electrical Engineer at ACWA Power. The role works under the direction of the Section Head to plan and supervise all preventive and corrective maintenance, monthly and annual outage and overhauling work activities on plant electrical equipment.

Role Purpose

To oversee the execution, coordination, and compliance of all electrical maintenance activities across the plant, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with legal, contractual, and organizational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance Planning & Execution

• Assign preventive and corrective maintenance jobs as directed by the Section Head.
• Supervise and coordinate activities of maintenance staff.
• Execute work orders through CMMS (SAP) and coordinate with the planning engineer for job completion and technical matters.
• Help the Maintenance Manager in executing corrective and planned maintenance with due regard to the annual scheduled maintenance plan.
• Review and recommend new maintenance procedures and work instructions.

Records, Reporting & Communication

• Maintain records and prepare reports related to work activities.
• Compose correspondence related to maintenance work.
• Maintain communications and relations necessary to report on the status of matters requiring action and ensure corrective action is undertaken.
• Report Integrated Management System performance to management periodically.
• Report deviations in Integrated Management System, identify root cause, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Report emergencies, incidents, and near misses.

Procurement & Resource Management

• Perform technical evaluation of quotations received from the purchase department and recommend appropriate choices.
• Prepare purchase requisitions for spare parts and consumables ensuring budgetary constraints.
• Arrange strategic spares availability to cope with maintenance requirements.
• Ensure effective resource utilization.
• Provide necessary resources for effective implementation and sustenance of Integrated Management System.

Supervision & Personnel Development

• Supervise, direct, and coordinate the activities of all personnel assigned to the area.
• Identify competency gaps for subordinate personnel and implement necessary actions.
• Carry out annual performance evaluations of reporting employees.
• Provide on-the-job training to new employees and evaluate their OJT performance.

Compliance & Management System

• Ensure Environmental Aspect-Impact and Hazard Risk Assessments are carried out, controlled, and updated.
• Implement, monitor, and report Integrated Management System objectives, targets, and programs.
• Ensure legal compliance with respect to scope of activities.
• Ensure identification of root cause for identified non-conformances and deviations, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Ensure compliance to legal requirements, contractual obligations, and organizational requirements.
• Ensure aspects identified are monitored and operational controls are followed.

Health, Safety & Environment

• Identification, documentation, and control of hazards in assigned work area.
• Carry out Hazard Risk Assessments.
• Carry out Aspect Impact Assessments.
• Managing knowledge of spillage containment.
• Manage knowledge of HSE emergencies.
• Manage knowledge of identification, classification, and disposal of waste.
• Manage knowledge of Emission Monitoring.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's engineering degree (B.E.) in Electrical from a four-year college or university.
• Minimum 4–8 years of related experience and training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Preferred: 10 years of related experience and training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Information

Desired Certification

• ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001 awareness or working knowledge preferred.

Work Conditions

• Employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions.
• May be occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or chemical risk, and electrical shock when working in high precarious places.
• Noise level in work environment is usually moderate but very loud conditions do exist.
