SR CONTRACTS ENGINEER

Role Overview

Senior Contracts Engineer at NMDC Group. The role sits within the Dredging & Marine division and is responsible for protecting NMDC's commercial position and driving achievement of project commercial objectives through expert contract and risk management.

Role Purpose

To ensure that commercial resources are adequate for successful project delivery, maintain rigorous risk management, and protect NMDC's position through deep expertise in contractual, commercial, insurance, and legal processes.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Management

• Ensure that commercial resources are adequate for successful project delivery
• Maximize cash flow through timely preparation of valuations, submission of invoices, and receipt of payment
• Ensure achievement of NMDC D&M's projects commercial objectives
• Ensure that NMDC D&M position is protected through in-depth understanding of contractual, commercial, insurance, and legal processes relating to contracts

Procurement & Supplier Management

• Manage timely procurement of sub-contractors
• Manage prompt preparation of variations, claims, and disputes

Risk Management

• Maintain and manage project risk registers to ensure early identification of risks
• Ensure that contingencies are in place to manage and minimize risks
• Identify and mitigate risks within the scope of the division and related to other divisions and department interfaces

Compliance & Procedures

• Implement and comply fully with NMDC Commercial Procedures at site level
• Demonstrate a high level of commercial and technical knowledge and work as part of the Project Team

Team Leadership & Development

• Ensure that project teams have good commercial understanding and focus, giving appropriate motivation and leading by personal example
• Promote knowledge sharing and learning and develop a team who are able to think outside the box
• Manage personnel with different cultural backgrounds
• Participate in driving change and innovation of the division

Qualifications & Experience

• Extensive contract knowledge including standard experience in forms of contract such as FIDIC
• Knowledge and familiarity of Dredging & Marine and Civil Infrastructure Construction field
• Contract Administration skills
