Role Overview

Sports Activities Supervisors - Male and Female (UAE Nationals only) at Ajman University in the United Arab Emirates. This is a supervisory role within the Athletics Department.

Role Purpose

Oversee all sports teams, intramural activities, and sports events while ensuring risk management, facility safety, and the timely execution of competitions. Serve as first responders for emergencies and incidents, and support the overall success of university athletics through direct supervision and participant engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Event Planning & Organization

• Plan, organize, and implement sports tryouts, training sessions, intramurals, and friendly games.
• Organize sports events and competitions.
• Assist in keeping and coordinating the master calendar of all Competitive Sports events and meeting times.
• Schedule training time for sports teams and sports activities setup.
• Assist in promoting and recruiting Competitive Sports members.

Team & Participant Management

• Motivate students to take part in sports teams.
• Determine the needs and capabilities of sports teams.
• Communicate effectively with sports teams' members.
• Monitor physical, technical, and tactical progress of team members.
• Encourage good sportsmanship.
• Enforce rules related to conduct, attire, and participation in competitions.
• Write reports on participation and progress of participants.
• Maintain an organized filing system and database of participants.

Coaching & Staff Support

• Supervise and assist sports coaches.
• Follow up with coaching contracts.

Facility Management & Maintenance

• Maintain constant surveillance of sports teams in sports facilities and at outside competitions.
• Perform various maintenance duties for sports facilities directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties including removing and putting in the net for badminton and volleyball.

Policy & Documentation

• Assist with the development of all Competitive Sports policies and regulations.
• Accurately complete and organize all soft and paperwork.
• Prepare and maintain appropriate activity reports, including filling out incident report forms.
• Document athlete and student information on incident reports and report to reception if necessary.

Safety & Emergency Response

• Maintain constant surveillance to secure the safety of patrons in the event of an emergency.
• Act immediately and appropriately to respond to emergencies.
• Provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
• Adhere to using protective equipment when intervening in the event of incident or emergency.
• Ability to react calmly and efficiently in emergency situations.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum Education Requirement: Physical education degree or diploma.
• Minimum three to five years of previous experience.
• Certifications in First Aid (provided if needed).
• Ability to pass a pre-employment physical skill evaluation as stipulated by the department.

Skills & Competencies

• Skill in the application as Sports Activities Supervisor.
• Experience in working with sports activities.
• Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.
• Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
• Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
• Excellent communication and organization skills.
• Basic proficiency in English and Arabic.
