SPECIALIST, PRODUCTION OPTIMIZATION

Role Overview

Specialist, Production Optimization at ADNOC, based in ADNOC Offshore.

Role Purpose

Provides specialized advice and guidance on Production Optimization to support Subsurface and Surface Teams in achieving objectives through Technology Management, Technical Challenges, Standard Practices and Knowledge Sharing. Ensures compliance with ADNOC Offshore specifications and standards, and drives effective adoption and implementation of new methodologies and technologies to enhance production, optimize productivity and mitigate risks.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Framework Development

• Support and participate in the implementation of Technical Center (Subsurface & DM) strategy in line with vision, mission and Technical Center mandate and objectives.
• Design and implement high-level Production Optimization frameworks that incorporate processes and expertise to maximize Asset values.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to design, develop and conduct specialist Production Optimization programs to build world-class capabilities within ADNOC Offshore.

Technology Evaluation & Innovation

• Participate in the identification of ADNOC Offshore technical challenges.
• Evaluate new technologies, tools, techniques and software solutions and decide on their suitability to address Production Optimization challenges.
• Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes.
• Maintain business relationships with key external technology providers and contractors.

Technical Leadership & Asset Support

• Provide asset teams with expert advice and consultation in all Production Optimization activities and related studies.
• Promote effective integration of key aspects of Production Optimization with other disciplines related to Petroleum Engineering.
• Promote a coherent link between well and surface models focusing on Production Optimization.
• Provide technical insights and leadership initiatives to enhance Production Optimization across Assets.
• Review and assure Production Optimization activities are executed in a way that satisfies Asset and ADNOC Offshore requirements in a safe and cost-effective manner.

Knowledge Management & Best Practices

• Promote industry best practices related to Production Optimization.
• Develop and promote standard practices and guidelines for Production Optimization in ADNOC Offshore.
• Capture Production Optimization related lessons learned and best practices and ensure their communication across Assets.
• Promote knowledge sharing between teams through forums, workshops and other mechanisms.
• Coordinate with ADNOC HQ, shareholders and other OPCOs on relevant Production Optimization activities to ensure best practices are captured and implemented at corporate level.

Performance & Continuous Improvement

• Advise on, guide and review the development of Production Optimization performance frameworks and relevant key performance indicators.
• Promote continuous improvement, results-oriented culture, feedback loops and group peer reviews.
• Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with ISO standards.
• Contribute to the achievement of approved Performance Objectives for the Section and Department in line with the Company Performance framework.

Team Development & Training

• Plan, supervise and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives.
• Train and develop assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient and deliver section objectives.
• Promote Production Optimization learning across the petroleum engineering community within ADNOC Offshore.
• Act as technical mentor to other Production Optimization staff and fresh graduates.
• Deliver in-house Production Optimization training courses.

Governance & Compliance

• Implement approved Section and Department policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures in support of the Section's work programs in line with Company and International standards.
• Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures and controls and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices and ADNOC Code of Practices.

Budget & Reporting

• Provide input for preparation of Section and Department budgets.
• Assist in implementation of approved budgets and work plans to deliver Section objectives.
• Investigate and highlight any significant variances to support effective performance and cost control.
• Provide inputs to prepare Section MIS and progress reports for Company Management.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Reservoir Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering or equivalent discipline.
• 9 to 10 years in Petroleum production optimization or related activities, of which 5 years in a specialist role related to production optimization.
• Strong background in all Production Optimization aspects with a focus on subsurface activities at well and field levels.
• Wide expertise in Petroleum Engineering including drilling, completion, stimulation, well testing, workover and rigless activities, artificial lift (especially Gas Lift and ESP), well performance analysis, diagnostics, troubleshooting and optimization.

Skills & Competencies

• Proficient in English.
• Technical and behavioural competencies as per ADNOC standard competencies.

Additional Information

• Regular contacts with all disciplines in Technical Center (Subsurface & DM).
• Coordinates with asset teams, functions and other Technical Centers on Production Optimization matters.
• Occasional contacts with ADNOC upstream, industry shareholders and OPCOs to share industry leading practices and information.
• Occasional contacts with contractors and service providers to maintain business relationships with key external technology providers.
