Role Overview

Specialist Physician-Transfusion Medicine at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC).

Role Purpose

Provide primary care for patients suffering from injuries and common illnesses, with specialization in transfusion medicine and related areas such as anesthesiology, family and general medicine, internal medicine, and pediatrics.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Assessment & Diagnosis

• Examine patients and take comprehensive medical histories.
• Address patients' concerns and answer patients' questions.
• Diagnose and treat injuries, illnesses, and disorders.
• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests.
• Explain diagnostic test results to patients.

Treatment & Patient Management

• Recommend and design treatment plans.
• Prescribe medications or therapies.
• Counsel patients on diet, hygiene, preventative healthcare, and lifestyle changes.
• Explain medical procedures to patients.

Documentation & Compliance

• Update patients' charts and information to reflect current findings and treatments.
• Comply with medical laws, including HIPAA.

Collaboration & Consultation

• Consult with other physicians and healthcare staff, including nurses and assistants.
• Refer patients to specialists when necessary.
• Work collaboratively with other physicians and healthcare teams.

Qualifications & Experience

• Medical degree and successful completion of residency and internship.
• State license and certification to practice medicine.
• Knowledge and experience diagnosing and treating a wide variety of illnesses.
• Ability and willingness to stay current on advancements, innovations, and developments in the field.
