Role Overview

Specialist Physician-Ophthalmology at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC), providing specialized ophthalmic care to patients with eye injuries, diseases, and disorders.

Role Purpose

To deliver comprehensive ophthalmological care by examining patients, diagnosing eye conditions, performing treatments and procedures, and managing patient care in collaboration with the broader healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care & Clinical Management

• Examine patients, take medical histories, address patient concerns, and answer patient questions.
• Diagnose and treat eye injuries, illnesses, and disorders.
• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests and explain results to patients.
• Prescribe medications or therapies.
• Counsel patients on preventative healthcare, hygiene, diet, and other lifestyle changes.
• Explain medical procedures to patients.
• Recommend and design treatment plans.

Documentation & Compliance

• Update patient charts and information to reflect current findings and treatments.
• Comply with medical laws, such as HIPAA.

Collaboration & Referral

• Consult with other physicians and work with other healthcare staff such as nurses, assistants, and other physicians.
• Refer patients to specialists when necessary.

Qualifications & Experience

• Medical degree and successful completion of a residency and internship.
• State license and certification to practice medicine.
• Knowledge and experience in diagnosing and treating a wide variety of illnesses.
• Ability and willingness to stay up to date on advancements, innovations, and developments in the field.
