Role Overview

Specialist Physician-Neonatology at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC). This is a clinical position providing specialized pediatric and neonatal care to patients with injuries, illnesses, and disorders.

Role Purpose

To deliver compassionate, evidence-based medical care to neonatal and pediatric patients, diagnosing and treating conditions, prescribing medications, guiding lifestyle modifications, and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Assessment & Diagnosis

• Examine patients and take comprehensive medical histories.
• Diagnose injuries, illnesses, and disorders.
• Address patients' concerns and answer medical questions.
• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests.
• Explain diagnostic results to patients in clear, understandable terms.

Treatment Planning & Delivery

• Recommend and design individualized treatment plans.
• Prescribe medications and therapies.
• Explain medical procedures to patients before execution.
• Counsel patients on diet, hygiene, preventative healthcare, and lifestyle modifications.

Patient Management & Documentation

• Update patients' charts and information to reflect current findings and treatments.
• Maintain accurate and timely medical records.

Collaboration & Consultation

• Consult with other physicians on complex cases.
• Refer patients to specialists when necessary.
• Work collaboratively with nurses, medical assistants, and other healthcare staff.

Compliance & Professional Standards

• Comply with medical laws including HIPAA.
• Stay current on advancements, innovations, and developments in neonatology and pediatrics.

Qualifications & Experience

• Medical degree and successful completion of residency and internship.
• State license and certification to practice medicine.
• Knowledge and experience in diagnosing and treating a wide variety of illnesses.
