Role Overview

Specialist Physician-Neonatology at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC).

Role Purpose

Provide primary care for patients suffering from injuries and common illnesses, with specialization in neonatology.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care & Examination

• Examine patients and take medical histories.
• Address patients' concerns and answer patients' questions.
• Diagnose and treat injuries, illnesses, and disorders.
• Explain medical procedures to patients.

Diagnostic & Treatment Planning

• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests.
• Explain diagnostic results to patients.
• Recommend and design treatment plans.
• Prescribe medications or therapies.

Patient Education & Counseling

• Counsel patients on diet, hygiene, preventative healthcare, and lifestyle changes.

Clinical Documentation & Compliance

• Update patients' charts and information to reflect current findings and treatments.
• Comply with medical laws, including HIPAA.

Collaboration & Referral

• Consult with other physicians.
• Refer patients to specialists when necessary.
• Work with other healthcare staff including nurses, assistants, and other physicians.

Qualifications & Experience

• Medical degree and successful completion of a residency and internship.
• State license and certification to practice medicine.
• Knowledge and experience in diagnosing and treating a wide variety of illnesses.
