Role Overview

Specialist Physician-General Surgery at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC). The role provides primary care for patients suffering from injuries and common illnesses, with potential specialization in areas such as anesthesiology, family and general medicine, internal medicine, and pediatrics.

Role Purpose

To deliver compassionate primary care to patients by diagnosing and treating injuries, illnesses, and disorders; ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests; counseling patients on preventative healthcare and lifestyle changes; and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care & Clinical Assessment

• Examine patients and take medical histories.
• Address patients' concerns and answer patients' questions.
• Diagnose and treat injuries, illnesses, and disorders.
• Counsel patients on diet, hygiene, preventative healthcare, and lifestyle changes.
• Explain medical procedures to patients.

Diagnostics & Treatment Planning

• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests and explain the results to patients.
• Recommend and design treatment plans.
• Prescribe medications or therapies.

Documentation & Compliance

• Update patients' charts and information to reflect current findings and treatments.
• Comply with medical laws, for example HIPAA.

Collaboration & Referral

• Consult with other physicians and refer patients to specialists when necessary.
• Work with other healthcare staff, such as nurses, assistants, and other physicians.

Qualifications & Experience

• Medical degree and successful completion of a residency and internship.
• State license and certification to practice medicine.
• Knowledge and experience in diagnosing and treating a wide variety of illnesses.
• Ability and willingness to stay up to date on advancements, innovations, and developments in the field.
