Role Overview
Specialist - Neurology at Sidra Medicine, located in Qatar. A Board Eligible/Certified physician with clinical training in Pediatric Neurology who provides family-centered medical care to neurology patients in outpatient and inpatient settings under the supervision of Attending Physicians.

Role Purpose
To deliver comprehensive, family-centered clinical neurology care to pediatric patients while serving as a health care professional and patient advocate. The role integrates direct patient care with academic engagement, quality improvement initiatives, and multidisciplinary collaboration to advance divisional standards and outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care Delivery
- Coordinate and facilitate direct delivery of patient and family care within a multidisciplinary framework primarily in an inpatient care setting, ensuring a patient/family focused and service-oriented environment in accordance with evidence-based and best practice standards.
- Elicit, perform and record the history of physical examinations on assigned patients.
- Under the supervision of the Attending Physician, develop a differential diagnosis for the presenting problem and implement a plan for management.
- Develop and perform necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures per standardized protocols.
- Provide counseling and anticipatory guidance to patients and families regarding physical, psychosocial and developmental needs.
Assessment and Planning
- Under the supervision of the Attending Physicians, assess and identify the health needs of the patient population and plan, implement, and evaluate interventions appropriate to meet those needs in accordance with organizational standards and accreditation requirements.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary health care team to devise treatment plans based on patient/family needs to ensure the delivery of high quality and evidence-based services that are sufficient, efficient and responsive, and designed to meet identified patient/family care needs and organizational outcomes.
Continuity of Care
- Under the supervision of the Attending Physician, collaborate with case management and discharge planning teams to plan and facilitate the continuity of comprehensive care of specialty patient populations from hospital, home and outpatient settings.
- Facilitate effective inter- and intradepartmental communication between patient, family, community and interdisciplinary team members for collaboration, liaison, networking and teamwork to ensure the maintenance of strong and professional relationships.
Compliance and Safety
- Contribute to ensuring that clinical practices within the division of neurology are in compliance with all applicable standards and requirements of the Joint Commission International, Ministry of Public Health, and all other applicable regulatory bodies.
- Assist in the promotion of a safe working environment inclusive of cultural competence and continuous learning, development and growth.
Patient Education
- Assist in the assessment of learning needs of patients and families and work in tandem with the community and patient education department to develop and implement patient education materials and programs that are centered on the learning preferences, religious and cultural values, and appropriate reading and language skills of target audience to meet identified needs.
Academic and Quality Improvement
- Participate in Nursing and Allied Health education.
- Participate in Resident and Fellow training.
- Contribute to ongoing clinical research projects and/or the development of divisional guidelines.
- Involve in divisional multidisciplinary quality improvement projects.
Leadership and Collaboration
- Model an understanding, appreciation and respect for an inclusive workplace environment that respects differences and diversity.
- Under the supervision of the Attending Physician, identify and facilitate resolution of challenges and problems when appropriate to improve division cohesiveness and patient satisfaction.
Qualifications & Experience
- MD, MBBS, or equivalent.
- Board Certification in Neurology.
- A minimum of one year of Post-Board Certification or Specialist Qualification experience.
- Clinical training in Pediatric Neurology.
