Role Overview

Specialist - Family Medicine at NMC Healthcare. The role involves delivering professional, ethical, and high-quality clinical care in the family medicine specialty, managing clinical risks, ensuring compliance with governance standards, and maintaining accurate medical records.

Role Purpose

Provide comprehensive professional and ethical clinical services to patients in an effective and efficient manner while maintaining excellence in medical practice through continuous professional development and integrity in all clinical services.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care Delivery

• Provide comprehensive professional and ethical quality clinical services to patients in an effective and efficient manner.
• Prescribe or administer treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury.
• Prescribe treatments or therapies.
• Prescribe medications.
• Immunize patients.
• Administer Executive Health Program examinations on a regular basis.

Diagnosis and Investigation

• Order diagnostic laboratory and X-ray examinations, determining the diagnosis and prescribing applicable therapy and taking the necessary preventive medicine.
• Collect, record, and maintain patient information, such as medical history, reports, and examination results.
• Collect medical information from patients, family members, and other medical professionals.
• Record patient medical histories.

Clinical Risk and Governance

• Monitor and manage clinical risks associated with direct patient care.
• Ensure compliance with clinical governance and quality management standards.
• Maintain accurate medical records.
• Perform professional duties of a Specialist Family Medicine in adherence to the Delineation of Privileges.

Professional Development and Collaboration

• Ensure excellence in medical practice is maintained by focusing on continuous professional development of self and others.
• Review journals and textbooks in order to keep current on latest techniques, procedures, and therapy.
• Participate in continuing in-service training programs and physician's conferences.
• Refer patients to medical specialists or other practitioners when necessary.

Professional Integrity

• Maintain integrity in professional services by executing clinical services in an ethical and responsible manner.

Qualifications & Experience

• At least 3–5 years' post qualification experience at Specialist level (independent of country).
• At least 1 year Specialist level experience from a Tier 1 country as specified by the UAE healthcare regulator.
• Basic medical degree and completion of a specialty qualification/education programme (fellowship/diploma) recognised by the relevant UAE healthcare authority.
• Certification and registration in a speciality recognised by the relevant UAE healthcare authority.
• Eligibility for relevant healthcare authority registration, for example Membership from Royal College, Arab Board Certification, MS, DM, MPhil, or an equivalent recognised by the relevant healthcare authority in UAE.

Skills & Competencies

• Active and valid life support certification (e.g. BLS, ACLS, PALS, ATLS, NRP).
