Role Overview
Specialist - Family Medicine at NMC Healthcare. The role involves delivering professional, ethical, and high-quality clinical care, managing clinical risks, ensuring compliance with governance standards, and maintaining accurate medical records.
Role Purpose
Deliver comprehensive professional and ethical clinical services to patients in an effective and efficient manner, while maintaining continuous professional development, managing clinical risks, and upholding the highest standards of integrity and responsible practice.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care & Patient Safety
- Provide comprehensive professional and ethical quality clinical services to patients in an effective and efficient manner.
- Monitor and manage clinical risks associated with direct patient care.
- Maintain accurate medical records.
Governance & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with clinical governance and quality management standards.
- Ensure excellence in medical practice is maintained by focusing on continuous professional development of self and others.
- Maintain integrity in professional services by executing clinical services in an ethical and responsible manner.
Occupational Safety & Health
- Comply with reasonable OSH instructions, policies and safe working procedures.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems.
- Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures.
- Not willfully or recklessly endanger anyone's health and safety.
- Assist with the preparation of risk assessments.
- Report OSH hazards, incidents, near misses and issues.
- Reduce, reuse and recycle waste as much as possible.
- Attend all OSH trainings, awareness programs and mock drills.
- Participate in OSHMS audits and inspections to ensure standards are maintained.
Prevention & Control of Infection
- Read and implement the NMC Prevention and Control of Infection (PCI) Policy and Strategy in an effort to maintain the highest possible standards of cleanliness at all times, thus reducing the risk of infection in patients, staff and visitors.
- Maintain the strictest hand hygiene standards, including the 5 moments of hand hygiene, bare below the elbows practice and environmental care at all times.
Qualifications & Experience
- At least 3 to 5 years' post qualification experience at Specialist level, independent of country.
- At least 1 year Specialist level experience from a Tier 1 country as specified by the UAE healthcare regulator.
- Basic medical degree and completion of a specialty qualification/education programme (fellowship/diploma) recognised by the relevant UAE healthcare authority.
- Certification and registration in a speciality recognised by relevant UAE healthcare authority.
- Eligibility for relevant healthcare authority registration, for example Membership from Royal College, Arab Board Certification, MS, DM, MPhil or an equivalent recognised by relevant healthcare authority in UAE.
- Active and valid life support certification (e.g. BLS, ACLS, PALS, ATLS, NRP).
