Role Overview
Specialist, ESG with ADNOC in the ESG Department. This role supports the development, implementation, and monitoring of ADNOC Gas's ESG strategy and initiatives, ensuring alignment with international sustainability standards and ADNOC Group's corporate objectives.
Role Purpose
To integrate environmental, social, and governance considerations within ADNOC Gas's operations, promote responsible business practices, and strengthen stakeholder engagement by supporting the design, rollout, compliance, and continuous improvement of ESG frameworks and initiatives across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Framework Development
- Assist in the design and rollout of ESG frameworks, policies, and performance metrics.
- Develop and implement ESG guidelines, checklists, policies, procedures, and other related programs to promote sustainable practices and mitigate negative impacts.
- Track global ESG trends, industry trends, regulations, and emerging technologies related to sustainability.
- Recommend improvements to ADNOC Gas's sustainability practices based on trend analysis.
- Implement the company's ESG strategy and monitor agreed performance indicators.
Risk Assessment & Compliance
- Conduct ESG risk assessments and contribute to mitigation planning.
- Monitor ESG compliance across business units and support internal audits and reporting.
- Engage with external assurance of the annual sustainability report.
- Engage in ESG rating performance assessment and assist to implement improvement action plans based on gap analysis results.
- Ensure familiarity with relevant environmental regulations and reporting requirements such as EHS.
Reporting & Disclosure
- Prepare ESG disclosures and reports in line with GRI, SASB, ADNOC standards, and the latest sustainability disclosure standards and best practices.
- Report on ESG performance indicators, including greenhouse gas emissions, energy consumption, waste management, and community engagement.
- Design and implement capacity building and awareness programs for employees on ESG topics to foster a culture of sustainability mindset throughout the organization.
Assessment & Benchmarking
- Plan and conduct materiality assessment exercises, peer benchmarking, and stakeholder engagement.
- Develop strong understanding of materiality concepts and experience in conducting materiality assessments.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
- Support stakeholder engagement activities, including community outreach and advocacy.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including investors, regulators, and local communities, to build relationships and communicate the company's ESG efforts.
- Assist in investor and ESG-related activities, as required, including preparing presentations, organizing conferences, roadshows, industry events, and media engagements relevant to ESG.
Cross-Functional Integration
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate ESG into operational and strategic decision-making.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Social Sciences, Engineering, or a related field.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Eight years of experience in ESG and sustainability, preferably in a large organization within the gas processing or energy industry.
- In-depth knowledge of global, regional, and local ESG/Sustainability and Decarbonization standards, including but not limited to GRI, SASB, TCFD, ISSB, and GHG Protocol.
- Familiarity with ESG rating methodologies and frameworks such as MSCI and Sustainalytics.
- Knowledge of company's business and operations, and ability to lead the delivery of tailored solutions in line with specific business requirements.
- Sound understanding of UAE community and best practices.
- Familiarity with ESG frameworks and international standards, including IFC, EBRD, ADB, and IDB.
- Experience in Social Impact Assessment and stakeholder engagement planning.
- Experience in corporate sustainability reporting and performance tracking.

- Project management and cross-functional collaboration.
- Professional certifications in ESG or sustainability, such as CFI, ESG Specialization, GARP SCR, CESGA, GRI, or CDP, are highly desirable.
