Role Overview
Specialist, Drilling (Cementing II) at ADNOC, based in the United Arab Emirates.
Role Purpose
Set and manage lump sum turnkey campaign scope of work with all related activities and manage unconventional drilling and testing activities (UBD, MLT, and multi-stage frac). Manage project cost control and rig schedule.
Key Responsibilities
Drilling Operations & Well Management
- Report and update on drilling and well operations activities related to the Biogenic Shallow Gas project to ensure conformity with plan and program.
- Lead and direct the Drilling Integrated Project Management teams of assigned service companies to execute ADNOC Exploration Biogenic Gas wells in line with plans.
- Endorse and approve drilling programs and well plans provided by LSTK/IPM teams.
- Endorse and approve the AFE for the subject wells.
Planning & Development
- Define full field development plans and exploration requirements through close collaboration with Petroleum Engineers, Reservoir Engineers, and Petrophysicists.
- Advise the Exploration Function on all drilling-related matters including planning, well prognosis, and technical requirements.
- Provide input for preparation of Function, Division, Department, and Section budgets.
- Assist in implementation of approved budgets and work plans to deliver business objectives.
- Contribute to achievement of approved performance objectives in line with the Company Performance framework.
Supervision & Team Development
- Plan, supervise, and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives.
- Train and develop assigned staff on relevant skills to enable proficiency and delivery of business objectives.
Compliance & Standards
- Implement approved Function, Division, Department, and Section policies, processes, systems, standards, and procedures to support execution of work programs in line with Company and International standards.
- Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures, controls, applicable legislation, and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices, and ADNOC Code of Practices.
Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Investigate and highlight significant variances to support effective performance and cost control.
- Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve quality and efficiency of operational processes.
- Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with best industry standards.
Reporting & Communications
- Provide inputs to prepare MIS and progress reports for Company Management.
- Maintain daily contact with members in Exploration and Drilling.
- Maintain frequent contact with other upstream Divisions regarding drilling operations.
- Maintain frequent contact with JVs, OPCOs, ADNOC Drilling, and SPC's drilling staff to discuss daily operations.
- Maintain frequent contact with drilling service providers and rig equipment manufacturers.
- Maintain regular contact with external drilling service providers.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
- Minimum 8 years of related experience in Drilling, Workover Engineering, and Operations.
- Previous experience with OPCOs, preferred in UAE.
- Experience from both rig activities and office-based roles in both offshore and onshore environments.
- Experience in drilling new technologies including UBD, MPD, CTD, and ERD.
- Professional user of drilling software; Landmark package is preferred.
- Experience in business planning for wells and drilling operations.
- Proven track record of leading drilling teams in operations or engineering.
Skills & Competencies
- Professional certification as applicable.

- Physical Effort: Minimal
- Work Environment: Air-conditioned environment; could be exposed to prevailing weather conditions such as heat, humidity, and dust during occasional site visits.
