Role Overview

Solutions Architect Deployment Strategist at Planet, based in Abu Dhabi, UAE. This is a full-time, in-office position 5 days per week and is contingent upon award.

Role Purpose

Planet's Professional Services Global Defense and Intelligence (D&I) team seeks a Solutions Architect responsible for implementation, integration, and analysis of new software and data products that extend the Planet Platform and deliver new capabilities to strategic D&I customers. You will be embedded with customers to train users on Planet products, translate requirements, design workflows, and communicate mission-critical capabilities to Planet's product team. Your work will be highly visible, directly impacting customers' ability to rapidly access Planet's datasets and streamline internal processes for onboarding new customers to the platform.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Understanding & Solution Design

• Understand clients' needs and deliver tailored solutions.
• Break down ambiguous, high-stakes problems into clearly defined, solvable components.
• Work closely with customer teams to understand their workflows, pain points, and mission priorities.
• Design workflows, define data models, configure integrations, and help define tooling that aligns to the customer's mission.
• Map out high-level strategy with decision makers by sitting next to analysts to debug workflows.

Training & Operational Support

• Train users, iterate with them in real time, and ensure that Planet solutions become mission-critical to daily operations.
• Rapidly prototype, test, and adjust workflows to match real operational needs.

Technical Delivery & Analysis

• Leverage analytical skills to deliver products to D&I customers and support mission requirements.
• Communicate technical capabilities back to customers in clear, mission-focused language.
• Translate operational requirements into actionable product feedback for Planet's engineering teams.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software, Systems Engineering, or similar.
• 4+ years of experience supporting D&I customers, with specialized technical experience in systems integration.
• Experience with defense and intelligence organizations in the UAE.
• Systems integrations experience working with multi-domain and multi-level security architectures, particularly Defense and Intelligence.
• GEOINT experience, imagery exploitation and analysis.
• Experience in geopolitics and data science.

Skills & Competencies

• Fluent in Golang, Python, PostgreSQL, and React or related technologies.
• Working knowledge of JavaScript and its mapping libraries (OpenLayers, Leaflet, ArcGIS API for JavaScript).
• Google Earth Engine and its SDK.
• Experience with cloud deployments: GCP, AWS, Azure.
• Experience with RDBMS (PostgreSQL, SQL) and distributed databases (NoSQL).
• Experience with geospatial technologies and data.
• Experience scaling and maintaining production systems.
• Solid problem-solving and systems thinking skills.
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management.
• Fluency in translating between technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to quickly learn new technical domains and tools.
• Deep curiosity and willingness to dive into operational details.
• Ability to pick up new technologies quickly.
• Experience with building analytical products from complex datasets.
• Comfortable operating in ambiguous, high-pressure environments.
• Fluent in multiple languages.
