Role Overview
Software Engineering Manager at NMDC Group. The role leads engineering strategy, team management, and technical platform development for a business unit in an industrial setting.
Role Purpose
Lead a team of software and data engineers to design, build, and operate scalable technology platforms and data ecosystems that enable digital transformation while maintaining engineering excellence, compliance, and alignment with corporate standards.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, manage, mentor, and build a team of software engineers and data engineers.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and creative problem-solving.
- Strive to learn and apply latest technologies and methodologies promoting a culture of continuous learning on the team.
Engineering Excellence & Standards
- Establish engineering best practices, frameworks, agile methodologies and tools to promote Technology Engineering Excellence in an industrial setting.
- Lead the engineering team in executing the technical strategy ensuring the highest standards of design patterns, code quality, solution extensibility, usability, and maintainability.
- Establish DevOps processes and best practices.
- Create comprehensive framework for Quality Assurance, Testing, and Automation.
Technical Strategy & Architecture
- Closely partner with product managers, UX/UI designers, business stakeholders, and the IT Group to develop the technical strategy, design and architecture of the Business Unit's technology platform.
- Guide the design and architecture of a purpose-built data platform for the Business Unit establishing an ecosystem for data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence and other innovations.
- Design and implement a SaaS platform enabling multiple feature teams to build business-specific solutions while maintaining a standard user experience.
- Lead the design, architecture, and implementation of a comprehensive Data Platform to support the Dredging and Marine Construction Business Unit's digital transformation initiatives.
Compliance, Governance & Integration
- Help define a clear framework of compliance, governance, system integration and data integrity between the Business Unit (Vertical) and IT Group (Horizontal).
- Act as a crucial liaison with Corporate IT ensuring seamless integrations and adherence to cyber security, governance, and compliance standards.
Resource & Budget Management
- Own Engineering Budget. Manage resources including staffing, software licenses, and tools.
Evaluation & Vendor Management
- Lead and conduct technical evaluations of 3rd party applications and solutions.
