Role Overview

Show Operator Assistant Automation - Theater Operations at Wynn Al Marjan Island, located in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, approximately 50 miles from Dubai International Airport.

Company Overview

Wynn Al Marjan Island will be the first integrated resort in the UAE, set to open in 2027. The resort will feature 1,530 rooms and suites, 22 restaurants, lounges, and bars, a theater, and a beach club. Additional amenities include multiple swimming and wading pools, a five-star spa, a salon, a shopping promenade, and a celebrations and events center.

Role Purpose

Assist the Head Automation – Theater Operations in supervising theater operations staff, managing automation and Comms systems, and maintaining safe and consistent performance of all show technical elements during rehearsals and performances.

Key Responsibilities

Supervision & Administration

• Assist the Head Automation – Theater Operations with supervising department staff.
• Assist with hiring and training new employees.
• Manage and document all required staff training.
• Assist with staff scheduling and timekeeping.
• Maintain training and backup plans to assure continuity in performance operations of the department.

Operations & Systems Management

• Establish and maintain safe and consistent operations of all automation and Comms systems for each rehearsal and performance.
• Operate automated stage systems and fluid hydraulic systems by programming and operating Comms consoles.
• Reprogram automation systems as required.
• Monitor all automation and Comms systems and provide adequate oversight and supervision to maintain a safe environment.
• Troubleshoot automation and Comms systems during performances and rehearsals.

Technical Installation & Maintenance

• Install, assemble, hang, and repair automation mechanisms and automated show elements.
• Provide cost-effective solutions to automation and Comms issues that maintain show quality and maximize return on investment.

Show Support & Collaboration

• Support performers at all times by assisting and guiding their interaction with all show elements and technical staff.
• Work with the Resident Director on required changes and ongoing development of the show.
• Oversee emergency procedures for show systems with Stage Management and the technical team; ensure all department staff is trained and familiar with these procedures.

Resource Management

• Order supplies and maintain inventory of all consumables.
• Create an atmosphere that maximizes productivity and minimizes costs.

Qualifications & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of five (5) years' experience as an Assistant Head of Automation for large-scale theatrical or production shows.
• Experience with a wide variety of modern theatrical automation and Comms systems as it pertains to installation, use, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with a wide variety of modern fluid power equipment such as hydraulic valves and pumps as it pertains to installation, use, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with flying effects with artists and theatrical rigging.
• Experience with electronics, conduit, battery packs, wire terminals, sensors, networks, and Comms boards.
• Experience and knowledge of automation, fluid systems, and hardware.
• Prior experience working with Navigator preferred.
• Ability to manage staff and perform under pressure.
• Ability to manage logistics.
