Role Overview
Shop Operator - Rotor Repairs at Baker Hughes. This role is based in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where applicants must have legal right to work.

Role Purpose
As a Shop Operator under direct supervision, you will set up, monitor and operate various pieces of equipment associated with service and manufacturing facility requirements. You may operate multiple machines at one time and perform quality control and assurance activities as required by manufacturing and engineering specifications, internal procedures and ISO requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Inspection and Repair
- Inspect and repair Centrifugal Compressors Rotors, Centrifugal Pumps Rotors, Gas Turbine Rotors, and Gears Shafts.
- Perform visual inspection, geometrical inspection, non-destructive testing, and other tests, recording results as per requirements and data sheets.
- Perform compressor rotor or pumps rotor de-stacking (disassembly by flare) and stacking (assembly).
- Perform Gas Turbine Rotor Disks de-stacking (disassembly) and stacking (assembly).
- Implement total run out testing.
Quality Control
- Own quality control of in-process parts by inspecting all parts under operations after completion and recording results in data sheets.
- Perform product preservation as per procedures.
Equipment Operation and Maintenance
- Operate LATHE machines (manual or CNC).
- Operate Low Speed Horizontal Balancing Machines, performing balancing checks and balancing activities to remove residual unbalance.
- Operate Vertical Balancing Machines, performing balancing checks and balancing activities to remove residual unbalance.
- Conduct machine tool preventive maintenance and daily maintenance checklists.
Continuous Improvement
- Report on fixture and toolings performance and rigidity evaluation.
- Test new fixture designs and clamping methods.
- Perform 6S and housekeeping activities for machines (interior and exterior), workstations, and surrounding areas.
- Participate in improvement projects and implementation of lean manufacturing.
Health, Safety and Environment
- Raise HSE concerns and observations as per HSE per capita target.
Qualifications & Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent level of education.
- Hands-on experience operating mechanical machines.
- Knowledge and experience to perform several types of inspections, repairs, balancing, and testing of centrifugal compressors and centrifugal pumps.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in repair activities of rotating equipment (centrifugal compressors, centrifugal pumps, and gearboxes).
- Minimum 10 years of experience in manufacturing or service shops.
- Experience in compressor rotor or pumps rotor de-stacking and stacking.
- Experience in Gas Turbine Rotor Disks de-stacking and stacking is preferred.
- Experience in machining is preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Capability, knowledge and skill to operate LATHE machines (manual or CNC).
- Capability, knowledge and skill to operate Low Speed Horizontal Balancing Machines, performing balancing checks and balancing activities to remove residual unbalance.
- Capability, knowledge and skill to operate Vertical Balancing Machines, performing balancing checks and balancing activities to remove residual unbalance.
- Mechanical aptitude or enthusiasm to learn and develop skill set in a hands-on environment.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to be a valuable team player.
Additional Information
Work Arrangements
- The shop will initially operate during morning shifts only; however, the candidate must be able to work in a 2-3 shift pattern and work overtime if needed.
