Role Purpose
To accurately diagnose, repair, and maintain customer vehicles in accordance with dealership and manufacturer standards, ensuring vehicle safety, reliability, and performance while delivering an exceptional customer experience and supporting long-term customer loyalty.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnosis & Repair
- Identify and diagnose mechanical and technical problems using computerized diagnostic equipment in accordance with manufacturer and brand processes.
- Diagnose the root cause of vehicle malfunctions and carry out repairs once customer authorization has been obtained.
- Perform vehicle repair and maintenance work as specified in repair orders with efficiency and accuracy.
- Carry out repairs in accordance with dealership and manufacturer standards, instructions, and technical procedures, including relevant technical information and diagnostic systems.
Inspections & Recommendations
- Conduct comprehensive multi-function vehicle inspections and make appropriate recommendations to ensure vehicle safety, reliability, and performance.
Communication & Coordination
- Communicate regularly with the Parts Advisor and Team Leader to effectively manage repair progress, parts requirements, production, and customer expectations.
- Provide professional and high-quality service to deliver an exceptional customer experience and support customer loyalty.
Documentation & Record-Keeping
- Accurately document all work performed, findings, and recommendations on the relevant repair orders.
Tools & Equipment Management
- Maintain and manage an inventory of standard technician tools and ensure they are kept in good working condition.
Professional Development & Compliance
- Stay up to date with manufacturer technical bulletins, service updates, and the latest repair and diagnostic procedures.
- Participate in manufacturer-sponsored technical training and development programs as required.
- Follow all dealership and manufacturer quality, safety, and technical standards.
General
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Service Manager.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience as an Automotive Technician or Service Technician in a similar position, preferably with the relevant automotive brand.
- High Diploma in Mechanics or a related automotive discipline.
- Brand Basic Qualification Certificate is required.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of vehicle mechanical systems, diagnostics, repair, and maintenance.
- Ability to use computerized diagnostic equipment and follow manufacturer repair procedures and technical instructions.
- Fluency in English is essential.
- Computer literate with the ability to use computerized diagnostic systems and relevant workshop software.
- Strong attention to detail and technical aptitude.
- Problem-solving skills and effective communication.
- Teamwork and accountability.
- Customer focus and commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
