Service Technician – MWD/LWD/Completions Tools

Role Overview

Service Technician – MWD/LWD/Completions Tools at NOV. This position requires a service company background in MWD/LWD tool repair and maintenance to apply the latest standard levels of maintenance in different tool configurations.

Role Purpose

Deliver reliable tool maintenance, repair, and field support services in MWD/LWD and completions tools, ensuring equipment readiness, customer satisfaction, and rigsite operational continuity.

Key Responsibilities

Tool Repair & Maintenance

• Perform tool repair and maintenance referenced to the latest released manuals.
• Identify required parts for different service levels with different tool configurations.
• Conduct soldering tasks for completions tools preparation.
• Update firmware and software on tools.
• Reimage PCs and install special standalone programs and software.

Tool Preparation & Mobilization

• Prepare tools for field deployment with all related protocols and certificate completion.
• Configure tools, load and unload equipment at customer locations.
• Prepare MWD kits ready for job mobilization.
• Prepare equipment for on-time delivery to meet customer schedules.

Field Operations & Support

• Support rigsite operations with MWD troubleshooting when required.
• Deliver field training, installation, and commissioning of tools.
• Conduct downhole memory data analysis.

Technical Documentation & Coordination

• Negotiate tool issues and findings with engineering when tools return from job or are serviced in shop.
• Create, update, and follow up Jira tickets.
• Monitor inventory to smoothly manage upcoming jobs.

Stakeholder Management

• Partner with other NOV personnel both within and outside the department to maximize delivery value to customers.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
• More than 5 years of experience with service company background.
• MWD/LWD maintenance experience.
• Field experience.
• Downhole memory data analysis experience.
