Role Overview
Senior Technician at Al Tayer Group. This role carries out effective and efficient repair and maintenance of customer vehicles following approved manufacturer repair techniques.
Role Purpose
To deliver high-quality vehicle repair and maintenance services in compliance with manufacturer specifications, ensuring accurate diagnostics, efficient time utilization, and customer satisfaction while maintaining safety and productivity standards.
Key Responsibilities
Repair and Maintenance Operations
- Collect job orders and necessary materials, tools, and equipment to carry out repairs and maintenance on customer vehicles in accordance with manufacturer repair techniques.
- Ensure accurate fault diagnosis and effective utilization of time allocated for repairs.
- Report to Team Leader of any delays in repairs due to unavailability of parts or other reasons.
- Ensure all additional repairs are authorized and parts are booked to the repair order.
- Work extra hours when required to complete jobs and ensure customer satisfaction as directed by Team Leader.
Parts and Warranty Management
- For warranty repairs or parts exchange programs, return removed parts to the parts department in the same carton to facilitate audit processes and obtain necessary credit if applicable.
- For retail jobs, keep old parts inside the vehicle except batteries and parts which may cause stain on interior trim or carpet.
- Return unused parts or store them properly as per company procedure.
- Dispose of used parts in an environmentally friendly manner.
Workspace and Safety Management
- Service personal tools and keep lifts and work area clean.
- Comply with health and safety standards.
- Keep all personal tools safe; report any breakages or accidents to Team Leader, Supervisor, or Tool Room immediately for replacement.
Timekeeping and Documentation
- Ensure proper clocking on and off in the system.
- Complete write-up in the repair order as per prescribed procedure.
Efficiency and Professional Development
- Maintain efficiency and productivity above 100%.
- Upgrade knowledge by regularly completing web-based courses and attending classroom trainings.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma in Automotive Engineering, or
- Industrial Technical Institute (ITI) 2-year vocational course in Certified Auto Technician.
- 2 to 3 years experience as technician for Diploma holders.
- 3 to 5 years experience as technician for ITI holders.
Skills & Competencies
- Industrial Technical Institute (ITI) certified Auto Technician Course.
- Vocational Automobile Training Course.
- Basic electrical knowledge in addition to mechanical skills.
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Attendance at basic technical courses from Vehicle Manufacturing companies.
- Additional technical skills are an advantage.
