Senior Storage and Backup - PMax, PFlex, PScale, Riyadh, KSA

Role Overview

Senior Storage and Backup Engineer with DeepSource Technologies, based on-site in Riyadh, KSA. This is a critical infrastructure role responsible for day-to-day administration, monitoring, and support of enterprise storage and backup infrastructure.

Role Purpose

Administer, monitor, and support Dell EMC storage and backup infrastructure, VMware virtualization environments, and SAN/Ethernet fabric networking to ensure data availability, performance, and resilience for the client's environment.

Key Responsibilities

Storage Administration

• Administer, configure, and support Dell EMC PowerMax 8500 and 2500 storage arrays, ensuring optimal performance, capacity planning, and availability.
• Manage and maintain Data Domain and Cyber Recovery Solution (CRS) environments, including backup job monitoring, troubleshooting, and isolated recovery vault operations.
• Administer PowerScale (scale-out NAS) environments, including cluster health monitoring, capacity management, and performance tuning.
• Support and maintain ECS (Elastic Cloud Storage) object storage infrastructure.
• Administer PowerFlex software-defined infrastructure, including deployment, scaling, and performance optimization.

Virtualization & Infrastructure Support

• Provide hands-on support for VMware environments, including vSphere, vCenter, Aria (formerly vRealize), VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), NSX-T, vRealize Automation (vRA), and vRealize Orchestrator (vRO).
• Support VDI environments (Citrix) with a focus on storage performance and backend infrastructure health.

Network & Fabric Management

• Manage and troubleshoot SAN and Ethernet fabric connectivity, zoning, and performance across the storage environment.

Monitoring & Operations

• Monitor daily backup and replication jobs, proactively identifying and resolving failures within SLA windows.
• Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and lifecycle management across all storage platforms.

Collaboration & Documentation

• Collaborate with infrastructure, virtualization, network, and security teams to ensure integrated, resilient IT operations.
• Maintain accurate documentation of configurations, procedures, and incident resolutions.

Incident & Change Management

• Act as the primary on-site point of contact for storage and backup-related incidents, escalations, and change requests.
• Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution.

Qualifications & Experience

• Proven hands-on experience with Dell EMC PowerMax 8500 and 2500 arrays.
• Strong experience with Data Domain and Cyber Recovery Solution (CRS).
• Hands-on expertise with PowerScale, ECS, and PowerFlex.
• Strong working knowledge of VMware products — vSphere, vCenter, Aria, VCF, NSX-T, vRA, and vRO.
• Solid understanding of SAN and Ethernet fabric design, zoning, and troubleshooting.
• Experience supporting VDI environments, preferably Citrix.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to work independently in a resident or on-site capacity.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
