Senior Solution Architect - Banking

Role Overview

Senior Solution Architect - Banking at GSSTech Group. The Senior Architect will support Digital Products and Corporate Assisted Banking initiatives, working closely with the Head of Architecture, Delivery Heads, business stakeholders, technology teams, and internal departments and subsidiaries.

Role Purpose

Design secure, resilient, reliable, scalable, and high-performing solutions that balance functional requirements with customer and user experience. Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance across complex enterprise applications, translating business requirements into end-to-end technical solutions aligned with enterprise architecture principles.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Solution Design

• Lead and contribute to architecture and solution design of complex enterprise applications across Digital Products and Corporate Assisted Banking.
• Develop end-to-end solution designs, high-level designs, architecture patterns, and technical solutions across backend, frontend, APIs, mobile applications, microservices, message brokers, and event-streaming platforms.
• Design solutions within microservices and API-based ecosystems.
• Translate business and functional requirements into scalable, secure, reliable, resilient, and high-performance technical solutions.
• Define and evaluate architectural design principles, patterns, and approaches, clearly articulating their benefits, limitations, trade-offs, and suitability for given business requirements.
• Demonstrate strong understanding of modern enterprise application architecture and distributed systems.

Standards & Governance

• Develop and maintain architecture standards, guidelines, patterns, and best practices.
• Support architecture governance and ensure adherence to agreed architecture standards and best practices.
• Participate in and/or lead architecture activities for multiple projects, ensuring solutions are aligned with enterprise architecture principles and standards.

Security & Compliance

• Ensure proposed solutions are aligned with relevant cyber security and information security requirements.
• Incorporate cyber security and information security considerations into application and solution architecture.
• Ensure security requirements are considered throughout solution design.
• Design secure, scalable, reliable, and resilient APIs and distributed services.

Stakeholder Management & Leadership

• Work closely with internal technology teams, business stakeholders, delivery teams, departments, and subsidiaries to ensure effective solution design and implementation.
• Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance throughout the solution lifecycle, from requirements and design through implementation and delivery.
• Support technical decision-making and provide architectural recommendations for complex business and technology challenges.
• Demonstrate strong ownership, leadership, communication, and stakeholder management across complex technology initiatives.
• Influence technical and business stakeholders.

Agile Delivery

• Collaborate with Agile delivery teams and contribute to architecture activities throughout the Agile delivery lifecycle.
• Work comfortably with Tribes, Squads, and cross-functional Agile teams.
• Engage in Quarterly Planning, Sprint Planning, Sprint Refinement, and Sprint Retrospectives.
• Collaborate with product, business, engineering, delivery, and architecture teams throughout the Agile lifecycle.

Continuous Improvement

• Continuously learn and adapt to new technologies, business domains, and evolving banking requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

Required Experience

• Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in end-to-end architecture, high-level designs (HLD), solution design, and architecture patterns.
• Strong banking and financial services domain experience.
• Experience participating in and/or leading at least 3 projects involving design and architecture of resilient, reliable, and secure applications.
• Strong experience in Solution Architecture and/or Technical Architecture.
• Strong experience with microservices and API-based ecosystems.
• Experience across backend, frontend, APIs, mobile applications, message brokers, and event streams.
• Experience with container-based and cloud-native infrastructure.
• Experience developing and maintaining architecture standards and guidelines.
• Strong Agile delivery experience, including Tribes, Squads, Agile ceremonies, Features, Epics, User Stories, and Acceptance Criteria.

• Corporate Banking experience.
• Digital Banking and Digital Products experience.
• Corporate Assisted Banking experience.
• Experience within large banks or financial institutions.
• Experience with enterprise-scale transformation programs.
• Exposure to modern cloud-native and event-driven architecture.

• Strong understanding of cloud-native architecture principles and associated technology ecosystems.

• Adequate knowledge and practical experience in incorporating security considerations into application and solution architecture.
• Understanding of secure application architecture, APIs, microservices, and cloud-native environments.
