Role Overview
Senior Software Engineer (For UAE Nationals) at Emirates NBD. This role is based in the United Arab Emirates.
Role Purpose
Design, implement, and deliver high-quality, maintainable, reusable, reliable, performant, and scalable software applications on schedule. The role combines software engineering best practices with innovation to empower customers, partners, and employees through content-rich apps and smart products that bridge tomorrow's innovations with systems powering the business today.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Development
- Design, implement, and deliver high-quality applications in accordance with agreed scope, cost, and timeline.
- Analyze business and functional requirements.
- Convert functional requirements into technical specifications.
- Design data models and create program structure.
- Design, code, and debug applications in various software languages.
- Experiment with emerging technologies.
Code Quality & Best Practices
- Apply international best practices to write secure, clean, well-structured, and documented code.
- Ensure quality of technical and application architecture and design of systems across the organization.
- Follow best coding, security, unit testing, and documentation standards and practices.
- Perform unit testing using appropriate tools to determine whether code is fit for use.
- Participate in peer code review to find mistakes overlooked in development and improve overall software quality.
Effort & Architecture
- Size development effort based on functional and non-functional requirements.
- Deep knowledge of waterfall and agile development practices in general and in specific areas of development.
Documentation & Governance
- Maintain system-related documentation such as data dictionary, parameters manuals, system manuals, and user manuals.
- Ensure PMO/INA procedures are followed and necessary documentation is maintained.
Qualifications & Experience
- Graduate or Postgraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of development and design experience.
- Experience in development and enhancement of coding frameworks and libraries.
- Hands-on experience in performance tuning, debugging, and monitoring.
- Deep knowledge of waterfall and agile development practices.
- Additional knowledge in enterprise architecture and principles helpful.
- Hands-on experience with cloud design patterns and their implementation.
- Experience in following best coding, security, unit testing, and documentation standards and practices.
Skills & Competencies
- Understanding of containerization; experienced in Docker and Kubernetes.
- Extensive coding experience with SOLID principles and Event Driven Architecture.
- Proficiency with Spring Boot, Kafka, MongoDB, Spring Cloud, and Hibernate.
- Passion for coding.
- Well versed with CI/CD principles.
- Active involvement in solving and troubleshooting issues in distributed services ecosystem.
- Familiar with distributed services resiliency and monitoring in production environments.
- Exposed to API gateway integrations like 3Scale and Kong.
- Good hands-on experience with cloud design patterns.
