Senior Software Engineer (For UAE Nationals)

Role Overview

Senior Software Engineer position at Emirates Islamic Bank for UAE Nationals. The role practices software engineering and applies best practices and principles to deliver high quality, maintainable, reusable, reliable, performant, and scalable software on schedule.

Role Purpose

To design, implement, and deliver high quality applications that serve customers better through emerging technologies, content-rich apps, and smart products. The role bridges tomorrow's innovations with the systems that power the business today while building products and services that differentiate from competitors.

Key Responsibilities

Design and Development

• Design, implement and deliver high quality applications in accordance with the agreed scope, cost and timeline.
• Design data models and create program structure.
• Design, code and debug applications in various software languages.
• Convert functional requirements into technical specifications.

Requirements Analysis

• Analyze business and functional requirements.
• Size development effort based on functional and non-functional requirements.
• Know and understand customers so that they can serve them better.

Code Quality and Standards

• Apply international best practices to write secure, clean and healthy structured, well documented code.
• Perform unit testing using appropriate tools to determine whether the code is fit for use.
• Participate in peer code review to find mistakes overlooked in development, improving the overall quality of the software.
• Ensure quality of technical and application architecture and design of systems across the organization.
• Experience in following best Coding, Security, Unit testing and Documentation standards and practices.

Documentation and Governance

• Maintain system related documentation such as data dictionary, parameters manuals, system manuals, and user manuals.
• Ensure PMO/INA procedures are followed, and necessary documentations maintained.

Innovation and Enablement

• Experiment with emerging technologies.
• Empower customers, partners and employees with content-rich apps and smart products to help them decide and act in their moments of need.

Qualifications & Experience

• Graduate or Postgraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of development and design experience.
• Experience in development and enhancement of Coding Frameworks and libraries.
• Hands on experience in performance tuning, debugging, and monitoring.
• Deep knowledge of waterfall and agile development practices in general as well as in specific areas of development.
• Additional knowledge in enterprise architecture and principles.

Skills & Competencies

• Extensive coding experience with SOLID principles, Event Driven Architecture, Spring boot, KAFKA, MongoDB, Spring Cloud, and Hibernate.
• Understanding of containerization, experienced in Docker and Kubernetes.
• Good hands-on experience with cloud design patterns and their implementation.
• Well versed with CI/CD principles, and actively involved in solving and troubleshooting issues in distributed services ecosystem.
• Familiar with Distributed services resiliency and monitoring in a production environment.
• Exposed to API gateway integrations like 3Scale and Kong.
• Passion for coding.
