Role Overview
Senior Reporter at Galadari Brothers. This role plays a vital role in bringing essential information and fresh perspectives to readers, viewers, and listeners through researching, reporting, and producing compelling and insightful stories that resonate with the audience.
Role Purpose
The Senior Reporter is responsible for developing deep expertise on assigned beat areas, cultivating strong source networks, pitching and executing story ideas across multiple formats, and maintaining the highest standards of journalistic integrity while adapting to tight deadlines and evolving news cycles.
Key Responsibilities
Content Strategy & Audience Engagement
- Develop and constantly sharpen understanding of the sorts of written content that will best engage the audience within the assigned Content Pillar, measured in terms of page views, unique visitors and engagement on social platforms.
- Become subject matter experts on a beat area with ability to independently assess story angles.
- Stay informed about current events, emerging trends, and issues within the assigned beat or area of expertise.
News Coverage & Story Development
- Assist Breaking News Desk on quick-turn news events relevant to the assigned Content Pillar as needed.
- Propose and enact second-day stories to follow news events.
- Pitch story ideas and contribute to editorial discussions during planning meetings.
- Participate in on-location reporting when required, including travel to cover breaking news or events.
Reporting & Research
- Cultivate and maintain a strong professional network within coverage area to access sources and stay up to date.
- Conduct interviews with sources, experts, and individuals to collect accurate and diverse viewpoints.
Content Production
- Write, edit, and produce news articles, features, and multimedia content that adhere to company style and editorial guidelines.
- Ensure that all content is accurate, unbiased, and meets the highest standards of journalistic integrity.
- Adapt to tight deadlines and evolving news cycles while maintaining the quality of work.
Special Assignments & Stakeholder Engagement
- Take special assignments from senior staff that require high stakes or sensitivity and manage them in a trustworthy way.
- Engage with readers, viewers, and listeners through social media and respond to comments and feedback.
