Role Overview

Senior Radiographer (General) - Radiology - Cath Lab at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC).

Role Purpose

To independently perform all general radiography imagery procedures, analyze output, report findings to supervisor as needed, and supervise junior staff while maintaining equipment, supplies, and quality standards in a multimodality radiology environment.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Practice

• Independently perform all general radiography imagery procedures.
• Perform all MRI procedures in accordance with department policies, procedures and protocols.
• Evaluate images produced for acceptable quality, appropriateness and completeness.
• Forward images to the Radiologist for review and reporting.
• Ensure clear images for diagnostic purposes.

Staff Supervision & Development

• Oversee and supervise junior staff and ensure their compliance with department rules and policies.
• Direct and monitor all procedures carried out by junior staff under supervision and step in whenever there is a requirement.
• Provide advice to medical and technical staff on appropriate techniques.

Equipment & Materials Management

• Manage and be responsible for the safe and competent use of all radiology equipment, patient appliances and aids used in the department.
• Maintain a sufficient inventory of material supplies and equipment for the performance of duties.
• Manage and report shortage of materials to supervisor at the earliest convenience, ordering and approving replenishments when necessary.

Quality & Compliance

• Monitor and develop as necessary quality improvement indicators to ensure continuous quality improvement and compliance with patient care standards.

Qualifications & Experience

Required

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Radiography, Radiology Technology, or Medical/Diagnostic Imaging program, OR Diploma in Radiology (minimum three years course duration), OR Associate degree in Radiography program (minimum two years course duration).
• Two years of experience post qualification in the general radiology field.
• Not less than 4 years of postgraduate experience in a multimodality site/facility including OR, Trauma fluoroscopy and general radiology in an acute care hospital, of which not less than 2 years as a senior radiographer in an acute care hospital. For UAE Nationals: not less than 2 years relevant experience in an acute care hospital.
• Alternatively, not less than 6 years postgraduate experience in a multimodality site/facility including OR, Trauma, fluoroscopy and general radiology in an acute care hospital, of which not less than 3 years as a senior radiographer in an acute care hospital. For UAE Nationals: not less than 3 years relevant experience in an acute care hospital.
• Registration, certification or accreditation as a radiographer.
• Current National License.

Desired

• Master's in Medical Imaging or relevant clinical Master's degree in related field (will reduce 1 year from the required years of experience).
