Senior Quantity Surveyor

Role Overview

Senior Quantity Surveyor at MIRA Construction, Dubai. The successful candidate will play a key role in the commercial and cost management of major construction projects, from pre-contract stages through project completion.

Key Responsibilities

Cost Planning & Estimating

• Prepare detailed cost estimates, cost plans and project budgets.
• Prepare, review and manage Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and quantity take-offs.
• Conduct cost analysis and evaluate project expenditures against approved budgets.

Valuation & Financial Management

• Manage the valuation of works, interim payments and final accounts.
• Monitor project costs and prepare regular cost reports and forecasts for management.

Commercial & Contractual Management

• Review and assess variations, change orders, claims and contractual notices.
• Negotiate and manage commercial aspects with contractors, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Ensure compliance with contractual requirements and project commercial procedures.

Procurement & Tendering

• Support tendering and procurement activities, including the evaluation of bids and subcontractor proposals.

Risk & Stakeholder Management

• Identify commercial and financial risks and propose appropriate mitigation measures.
• Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Procurement and Finance teams throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in Quantity Surveying, Cost Management or Commercial Management.
• Proven experience on large-scale construction projects.
• Solid experience with contract administration, variations, claims and final accounts.
• Good understanding of FIDIC and other standard forms of construction contracts.
• Experience working with contractors and/or consultancy companies is highly preferred.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of cost planning, estimating, BOQ preparation, tendering and procurement.
• Proficiency in relevant cost management and quantity surveying software.
• Strong analytical, negotiation and communication skills.
• Professional working proficiency in English.
