Role Overview
Senior Project Manager (Industrial) at ADNOC, located in UAE. The role leads assigned projects to ensure delivery against highest HSE standards and fulfillment of scope, quality, cost and time objectives.
Role Purpose
Lead and manage assigned projects from award through handover, supervise project management teams and contractors, and ensure all work meets contract requirements with high standards of quality, health, safety and environmental compliance within stipulated timelines and approved budgets.
Key Responsibilities
Project Governance & Standards
- Develop, maintain and ensure proper application of policies, procedures, work methods, uniform standards and systems to regulate standardize and cover various activities in project management and construction and on/off site inspection.
- Review policies continuously to remain up-to-date with changing operational settings.
- Contribute to development of long-term plans for effective maintenance and enhancement of the Division.
- Direct development of detailed statement of requirements, scope of work and strategy for implementation of project phases and execution philosophy to meet project objectives.
Planning & Budgeting
- Involve in preparation of schedules, cost estimates and budgets for the project.
- Review and recommend schedules, cost estimates and budgets for management endorsement and approval.
- Provide input for preparation of functional budgets and assist in implementation of approved budget and work plans to deliver objectives.
- Investigate and highlight any significant variances to support effective performance and cost control.
Project Execution & Control
- Control and monitor implementation of total budget, schedule and quality at various stages of project execution to ensure adherence to overall approved plan.
- Monitor and control progress of work performed by subordinates assigned to the project and that of contractors.
- Identify bottlenecks, direct, guide and recommend corrective action to ensure smooth and timely completion of each project.
- Establish project organization including manpower utilization and mobilization.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, motivate, review and monitor performance of teams staffed with specialists within the Division to ensure effective implementation of the agreed plan.
- Plan, supervise and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives.
- Train and develop assigned staff on relevant skills to enable proficiency and delivery of section objectives.
- Plan, manage, supervise and control activities of assigned employees in the Projects Management & Construction Department.
- Exercise supervisory functions and financial authority at appropriate level as established by management.
Contractor & Vendor Management
- Supervise work of contractors and sub-contractors and suppliers ensuring they fully meet contract requirements with high standard of quality, health, safety and environmental requirements.
- Provide professional expertise in selection of potential sub-contractors and suppliers with emphasis on pre-qualification and bid evaluation.
- Lead and maintain negotiations of claims, backcharges and variations with contractors and vendors.
- Approve and endorse contractual and financial commitments and invoices submitted by consultants and contractors on behalf of the company within authorized limitations as specified in the Delegation of Authority.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure timely and comprehensive inspection of all facilities for their quality and integrity as per contractual agreements in terms of approved materials and equipment specifications and standards by the company and statutory regulations.
- Identify cost reduction, scheduling and quality improvement and make appropriate recommendations to management for approval.
- Provide professional expertise in site management in relation to site arrangements and overall logistics.
- Ensure required audits from different parties are conducted on time and required corrective actions are communicated and implemented as planned.
HSE & Sustainability
- Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures and controls and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices and ADNOC Code of Practices.
Reporting & Communications
- Prepare weekly highlights and monthly progress reports covering all aspects of projects and construction activities.
- Provide inputs to prepare Section MIS and progress reports for Company Management.
- Ensure arrangements of necessary training courses and conferences for project staff.
- Perform other similar or related duties as assigned.
Process Improvement
- Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve quality and efficiency of operational processes.
- Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with best industry standards to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function.
- Implement approved Unit and Divisional policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures in order to support execution of work programs in line with Company and International standards.
Performance Management
- Contribute to achievement of approved Performance Objectives for the function in line with the Company Performance framework.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in relevant Engineering discipline.
- Master's degree in Engineering Management is highly preferable.
- Minimum 12 years of relevant engineering project execution experience in Oil & Gas.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in UAE.
- At least 7 years in a senior Project Management role.
- Experience managing engineering multi-disciplinary functions for design of assets and facilities.
- Exposure to preparation of FEED packages.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
