Role Overview
Senior Planning/Scheduling Engineer at WSP Middle East, based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. You will support major transport, roads, and infrastructure utilities projects through the construction supervision phase, ensuring successful project delivery in accordance with contractual requirements and project objectives.
Role Purpose
To manage project planning, scheduling, progress monitoring, delay analysis, and reporting throughout construction supervision, delivering major transport, roads, and infrastructure projects on time and within contractual parameters.
Key Responsibilities
Schedule Review & Validation
- Review, analyze, and validate contractor baseline programmes and schedule submissions.
- Assess contractor resource allocation, productivity trends, and schedule performance.
- Review and verify contractors' look-ahead programmes and recovery schedules.
Progress Monitoring
- Monitor construction progress against approved schedules and identify deviations, risks, and recovery opportunities.
- Monitor key project milestones, critical paths, and interface activities across multiple disciplines.
- Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, dashboards, and executive schedule summaries.
Delay Analysis & Claims
- Conduct schedule impact assessments, delay analyses, and extension of time evaluations.
- Evaluate contractor claims associated with time impacts and schedule changes.
Stakeholder Management & Coordination
- Support Resident Engineers and Project Managers with planning-related recommendations.
- Participate in project progress meetings and provide planning advice to project stakeholders.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary supervision teams covering roads, utilities, traffic, and infrastructure works.
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure compliance with project controls procedures, contractual obligations, and reporting requirements.
- Maintain accurate project controls records and programme documentation throughout project execution.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 15+ years of professional experience in planning and scheduling.
- Extensive experience delivering transport, roads, highways, and infrastructure utilities projects.
- Strong site supervision consultancy experience on major infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated experience within Saudi Arabia, particularly on large-scale government, municipal, or transportation infrastructure programmes.
- Experience must be predominantly within consultancy and supervision environments.
Skills & Competencies
- Proficiency in Primavera P6 and other project planning software.
- Strong knowledge of delay analysis methodologies, EOT assessments, and project controls practices.
- Experience reviewing contractor programmes and monitoring construction progress during project execution.
- Excellent reporting, analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Fluent in English; Arabic language skills are advantageous.
Additional Information
- Professional certifications such as PMP, PSP, or equivalent are preferred.
- Candidates with primarily building construction, contractor execution, design office, or head office planning experience are not preferred.
