Role Purpose
The Senior Planning Engineer ensures that the project management function operates efficiently across the organization and with external stakeholders. The role is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive project schedules, tracking progress, and delivering planning solutions that align with budget forecasts, manpower planning, and contractual requirements on large-scale infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning and Scheduling
- Develop, implement, and maintain detailed project schedules using tools such as Primavera P6 or MS Project.
- Create resource-loaded and cost-loaded schedules to ensure alignment with budget forecasts and manpower planning.
- Track project progress against baseline schedules and prepare S-curves, histograms, and other key performance indicators.
- Report schedule deviations with recovery plans.
- Conduct schedule analysis to identify delay causes and assess critical path impacts.
- Support Extension of Time (EOT) claims with detailed analysis and documentation.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Collaborate with project managers, site engineers, subcontractors, contractors, and clients to gather data, validate progress, and ensure schedule adherence.
- Conduct regular site inspections to verify actual progress against planned activities.
Risk and Compliance Management
- Analyze project risks related to scheduling and propose mitigation strategies to avoid delays and disruptions.
- Ensure all planning activities comply with contractual and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate records for audits and closeouts.
Continuous Improvement
- Adjust schedules accordingly based on site inspection findings.
- Utilize advanced planning tools including Primavera P6, MS Project, and Excel for schedule development, updates, and reporting.
- Recommend improvements to planning processes and adopt new tools.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and methodologies.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 10 years of management experience in Planning and Controls with a strong Project Management Consultant (PMC) background.
- Extensive infrastructure project experience including roads, highways, bridges, utilities, rail, airports, and other major civil works.
- Degree in Civil Engineering.
- PMP Certification required.
- Other Project Controls related certifications.
- Good experience working in Saudi Arabia, preferably on large-scale infrastructure projects.
