Role Overview
Senior Piping Engineer (Greenfield) at Wood PLC. This is a greenfield piping engineering role responsible for technical leadership in piping design and engineering execution within an integrated project management team.
Role Purpose
Provide technical expertise and oversight of all piping design and engineering activities to ensure compliance with relevant codes and ADNOC standards, coordinate with EPC contractors and internal disciplines, and deliver quality engineering solutions within project timelines.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Technical Expertise
- Provide technical expertise in all piping design activities.
- Perform regular and timely technical reviews of piping engineering deliverables developed by engineering consultants and contractors.
- Ensure design quality in compliance with relevant codes, standards, and best practices.
- Review and approve engineering consultant and EPC contractor work for compliance with ADNOC project specifications, relevant codes, standards, and best industry practices.
Compliance & Standards
- Ensure design and engineering compliance with relevant codes and ADNOC standards.
- Ensure that facilities are designed in accordance with the latest corporate guidelines with respect to environment and health aspects.
Coordination & Project Management
- Coordinate, monitor, and handle piping design and engineering with EPC contractors as per project expectations and within agreed timelines.
- Ensure integration of overall piping engineering and overall coordination within IPMT piping engineering team.
- Ensure quality and accuracy of engineering consultant and EPC contractor piping engineering design activities.
- Coordinate technical reviews and bid evaluation and performance evaluation.
- Provide technical assistance and coordination with other discipline engineers.
- Facilitate participation in layout reviews, model reviews, design reviews, and technical workshops.
Design Optimization & Analysis
- Coordinate required engineering participation in the development and analysis of various design options and business models.
- Contribute input and expertise in the development and analysis of various design options and business models to support design optimization and validation.
- Participate in teams for equipment sizing and equipment selection considering optimization and standardization.
- Ensure full utilization of existing facilities while optimizing facilities required for new projects.
Quality & Stakeholder Management
- Work with other discipline engineers within IPMT, EPC contractors, ADNOC engineering, operations, and site interface to resolve technical issues and ensure quality discipline engineering execution and integrity.
- Provide technical assistance during installation, pre-commissioning, and commissioning.
- Interface regularly with contractor's engineering and project management team and discipline engineers as required.
Reporting & Support
- Report to ADNOC discipline team leader and engineering manager.
- Provide support to project managers and engineers within the project management team organization.
- Interface with managers, team leaders, and engineers in the company's technical departments, business units, operations units, and logistics department.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in oil and gas industry.
- Experience and detailed knowledge of relevant international codes and standards.
Skills & Competencies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent technical team and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of engineering computer programs and general business software.
- Ability to make independent decisions in the planning, organizing, and coordinating to develop solutions to complex problems.
