Senior Munitions Inspector

Role Overview

Senior Munitions Inspector at Amentum. This role serves the USAF Munitions Surveillance Program and may be based at various USAF locations, including overseas assignments.

Role Purpose

Serve as the technical expert and focal point for managing the USAF Munitions Surveillance Program (MSP), including all inspector qualification, certification, and performance oversight. Conduct surveillance inspections of munitions to determine serviceability, identify hazards, and detect deterioration while ensuring compliance with all applicable Air Force directives, safety standards, and quality management systems.

Key Responsibilities

Munitions Surveillance & Inspection Program Management

• Manage the MSP in accordance with DAFMAN 21-201, including training, certification and evaluations of all assigned Munitions Inspectors to assure optimum reliance of the munitions stockpile.
• Serve as the focal point for managing all Department MSP and inspector's qualification/certification programs as addressed in DAFMAN 21-201.
• Monitor surveillance actions and performance of assigned Inspectors to avert negative trends.
• Conduct warehouse inventories and correct any discrepancies, analyzing any potential negative trends.
• Ensure USAF custody accounts are an integral part of the department master surveillance program.

Technical Inspection & Analysis

• Perform surveillance inspections of munitions to determine and identify serviceability, potential hazards and possible deterioration.
• Inspect munitions and containers in accordance with 11A-1-10 and other applicable technical directives.
• Conduct measuring, observing, inspecting, testing, analyzing, classifying and recording inspection results of inspections in the Theater Integrated Combat Munitions System (TICMS).
• Operate and analyze applicable TICMS products to ensure they reflect total accuracy of the stockpile.
• Oversee the inspection and certification of munitions brass, residue and containers in accordance with 11A-1-60.
• Evaluate munitions production and equipment performance to identify negative trends and solutions.
• Inspect and operate electronic test equipment, metal strapping equipment, stencil machines, heat sealers, pneumatic paint guns, air compressors and power tools according to established standards.

Munitions Conditioning & Maintenance

• Recondition, repair and replace defective or missing parts of munitions and containers.
• Perform munitions storage warehousing actions according to DOD/USAF explosives standards.

Coordination & Documentation

• Advise the Munitions Superintendent about all aspects of the MSP with recommended actions.
• Coordinate with Accountability Section and USAF MASO to resolve all serviceability and accountability discrepancies noted during any of the surveillance and/or inventory operations.
• Accurately document all serviceability and accountability actions in a timely manner.

Compliance, Safety & Quality Assurance

• Ensure compliance with Performance Work Statement (PWS) and Amentum ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS).
• Consistently observe and enforce all USAF and host nation explosives safety, AFOSH and security standards during all munitions operations in assigned site and temporary duty locations.
• Conduct all munitions work according to established quality processes and technical standards, identifying potential problems and implementing timely, long-term solutions.
• Will be required to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) according to prescribed procedures and as required for task being performed.

Safety & Contingency Preparedness

• Prepare and deliver general and explosives safety briefings prior to initiating an explosives operation.
• In the event of an emergency, take necessary control measures with timely response actions.
• Perform entry-controller duties as required.

Operational Support

• Work necessary hours, to include stand-by duties, to support mission requirements during peacetime and combat contingencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Must have completed formal USAF Munitions Systems training or US Service equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of experience as USAF Munitions Inspector within the past 48 months or have attended the AETC in-resident or Mobile Training Team course within the past 48 months.
• Minimum 7 years' experience with USAF Military Munitions or US service equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years combined supervisory experience in USAF munitions activities and MMHE or US service equivalent.
• Must meet prerequisites for a Senior Munitions Inspector in accordance with DAFMAN 21-201.
• Must be capable of attending the USAF Munitions Inspector Course.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance (US Citizenship required).
• Preferred CCAF degree in Munitions Management.
• Preferred USAF munitions storage, maintenance, control and inspection procedures experience.

Skills & Competencies

• Intermediate level knowledge of the USAF Supply and Tech Order systems or US Service equivalent.
• Intermediate level knowledge of current MIS applicable to PGM activities.
• Proficiency in personal computers and Windows Operating System.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office including minimum Power Point, Excel and Word programs.
• Normal color perception and depth of vision.
• Preferred intermediate experience in the operation of forklifts and tractor trailers.
• Preferred TICMS, MC2, TMRS and IMDS/DPAS M&U for Munitions and MMHE experience.

Additional Information

• May be required to operate material handling equipment.
• Must possess a valid home country driver's license and ability to obtain host nation driver's license.
• Physically capable of performing all required duties; capable of lifting/pushing/pulling minimum of 50 lbs.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
• May be required to work in normal office and maintenance shop or warehouse environment and may be required to work outdoors for extended periods.
