Role Overview
Senior Merchandiser at Apparel Group. The role assists the Brand Manager to plan product and assortment strategies that meet or exceed financial goals, and coordinates all activities related to allocation and delivery of merchandise to stores across the region.
Role Purpose
To drive merchandise planning, allocation, and in-season management across the store network, ensuring balanced inventory, optimized stock turns, and strong financial performance through data-driven decisions and competitive insight.
Key Responsibilities
Merchandise Planning & Strategy
- Assist in merchandise plans for the category based on insights gained from merchandise mix, historical trends and future outlook projected by the brand
- Finalize seasonal assortment plan and size run book in collaboration with Sr. Merchandiser
- Plan merchandise mix for each store and complete initial product allocation to stores and reserve management based on pre-distribution
- Assist in pre-season financial planning, in-season projections, open-to-buy management and new store budgets
Inventory & Stock Management
- Ensure balanced collection at stores, regular replenishment from warehouse and inter-store transfers
- Analyze store profile based on reports, including weeks of stock, merchandise sales blend, inventory by store grade
- Ensure effective in-season management including stock analysis and balancing, markdown management, and stock versus sale performance
- Ensure the ageing standards are followed and the stock turns are maintained as per company policy
- Monitor and analyze both best sellers and slow sellers and take appropriate actions
- Keep a track of actual sales versus sales forecasts, inventory checks, and forthcoming events and address the replenishment needs of stores on a day-to-day basis
Operations & Negotiations
- Coordinate all activities related to allocation and delivery of merchandise to all stores in the region
- Manage margin negotiations, orders, stock distribution and product selection
Competitive & Market Analysis
- Monitor the product line, pricing and developments of competitor brands
- Perform regular store visits and competition analysis in collaboration with the Brand Manager and communicate findings to the Brand
