Role Purpose
This is a leadership role combining technical excellence, project delivery, and client engagement. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will lead the design and delivery of complex mechanical systems across buildings, infrastructure, and industrial developments at all project stages.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Technical Delivery
- Lead the design and delivery of mechanical engineering systems across all project stages: concept, detailed design, construction, and commissioning.
- Drive design quality through technical reviews, calculations, simulations, value engineering, design optimization, and multidisciplinary coordination.
- Utilize advanced modelling and digital tools including Revit, BIM workflows, and energy modelling platforms.
- Conduct site inspections, audits, and performance assessments to ensure alignment with design intent.
- Lead mechanical design reviews, identify technical risks and design gaps, and implement practical engineering solutions in line with project requirements and commercial objectives.
Compliance & Standards
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and international standards including ASHRAE, IPC, NFPA, CIBSE, and relevant authority requirements.
- Maintain strong knowledge of UAE authority regulations and approval processes.
Leadership & Team Development
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to junior and mid-level engineers.
- Coordinate with architects, structural, electrical, and specialist teams to ensure integrated design delivery.
Project Management & Delivery
- Support project managers in tracking progress, managing risks, and maintaining delivery timelines.
Client Engagement
- Engage directly with clients, presenting solutions, resolving challenges, and building long-term relationships.
Innovation & Improvement
- Contribute to innovation initiatives, sustainability strategies, and digital engineering improvements.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering.
- Minimum 8–12 years' experience in mechanical engineering, specifically within building services in the UAE.
- Proven experience delivering complex projects with minimal supervision.
- Strong expertise in HVAC design and energy-efficient systems.
- Strong expertise in mechanical plant design and equipment selection.
- Strong expertise in piping systems and system integration.
- Experience in preparing technical reports and specifications.
- Experience in preparing feasibility studies.
- Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) and smart building integration.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project delivery frameworks in the UAE.
Skills & Competencies
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Proficiency in Revit (BIM).
- Proficiency in IES.
- Proficiency in HAP.
- Proficiency in mechanical calculation software.
- Knowledge of international codes including ASHRAE, IPC, and NFPA where applicable.
Additional Information
Preferred Attributes
- Chartered Engineer status or working toward professional accreditation.
- Experience on large-scale or high-profile developments in the UAE or GCC.
- Exposure to sustainability frameworks including LEED, Estidama, and Net Zero strategies.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary consultancy environments.
