Senior Mechanical Engineer – Operations and Maintenance

Role Overview

Senior Mechanical Engineer – Operations and Maintenance with Wood PLC, based in Sharjah, UAE. This is a full-time, on-site role reporting to the Operations Engineering Manager.

Role Purpose

Provide day-to-day Mechanical Engineering support for site operations to resolve queries, activities and risks, ensuring delivery of safe, reliable and compliant operations. Collaborate with site-based teams to progress longer-term engineering solutions that reduce risk and grow production.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Support

• Perform day-to-day Mechanical Engineering support to deliver immediate operations support, working closely with the site team to resolve issues under the direction of the Operations Engineering Manager.
• Identify production vulnerabilities and optimization opportunities to support production forecast and growth.

Asset Risk Management

• Ensure that asset Mechanical Engineering risks are understood, appropriately risk assessed, and actions driven to reduce risk within agreed timeframes.
• Define static mechanical engineering operating envelopes and monitor health of static mechanical equipment using operating envelopes.
• Record and investigate excursions outside operating envelopes.

Monitoring and Performance

• Monitor static Mechanical Engineering Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and initiate corrective action as necessary.

Technical Support

• Provide Mechanical Engineering support to technical Management of Change (MoCs) and Engineering Queries (EQs).
• Write, review, and recommend technical input into Site Operations Procedures (SOPs).
• Generate, revise, and review discipline Technical Documentation.
• Provide static Mechanical Engineering coaching to client engineers.

Qualifications & Experience

• BSc or BEng or MEng (UK), BSc (US), or international equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or relevant engineering subject.
• Professional accreditation as Chartered Engineer or Professional Engineer.
• Significant experience in an Operations Mechanical Engineering support role.
• Advanced technical knowledge and experience in engineering, with sound knowledge of relevant industry codes, standards and regulations.
• Ability to initiate guidance on appropriate designs and systems to prevent, control and mitigate risks.
• Sound stakeholder management experience.
