Senior Lecturer - ADMA

Role Overview

Senior Lecturer in the Abu Dhabi Maritime Academy (ADMA) at AD Ports Group. The role delivers high-quality teaching, learning, training, assessment and tutorial support to learners across all levels of the department scope of studies, including Nautical, Marine Engineering, and Logistics disciplines.

Role Purpose

To maximize learner achievement and continuous improvement by delivering high-quality instruction, leading course development and accreditation efforts, and contributing to consultancy projects that support the Academy's mission and industrial partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Assessment

• Teach and assess courses as assigned by the Director – Program in line with the Academic Catalog and faculty handbook.
• Develop academic courses aligned with internal curriculum development and quality assurance processes.
• Maintain course records and prepare schemes of work, lesson plans, and assessment plans.
• Participate in the Academy's Teaching Observation Scheme.
• Participate as a team member in the development of teaching methods and strategies toward continuous improvement in teaching and learning.

Student Support & Coaching

• Coach students at risk and deliver tutorials as required.
• Provide academic advice to students.
• Pay due attention to the principles of effective learning, learning styles, equality of opportunity, differentiation, and support for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
• Maintain records of student progress and coordinate reporting to interested parties.

Course Leadership & Development

• Lead specific courses within the program in terms of updating them and seeking their accreditation.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments in maritime courses, including simulators and related educational technologies.
• Update Director – Program on discrepancies and recommendations to improve course content and format.

Curriculum & Learning Resources

• Contribute to curriculum development and learning resources.
• Develop and maintain effective industrial links.
• Organize and participate in relevant industrial visits of students as required.

Consultancy & Research

• Provide training and consultancy services whenever required.
• Administer and implement research programs and projects.

Academic Leadership & Governance

• Support the Director – Program as required by serving on committees or taking on Associate roles.
• Attend, contribute to, and coordinate where necessary relevant Academy events, including career and academic guidance, student recruitment activities, school visits, open house events, Sponsors Meetings, and Awards Ceremonies.
• Carry out Quality Assurance and Self-Assessment procedures in line with the Academy's Quality Policy.
• Comply with the requirements of the Quality Management System (QMS).

Compliance & Professional Standards

• Present the Academy in the best light at all times and ensure all areas of personal activities comply with standards laid down by the Academy and relevant outside agencies and organizations.
• Carry out all duties with due regard to Health and Safety Regulations.
• Ensure compliance with the Financial Regulations of the Academy.
• Positively promote equality of opportunity for staff and students.
• Carry out other duties as may reasonably be required from time to time.

Professional Development

• Undertake professional development and training to contribute to individual and Academy development as agreed through the Academy Performance Appraisal Scheme process.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field.
• Master's degree (MBA or equivalent) is a plus.
• Terminal vocational degree in the relevant field.
• Teaching qualification preferred.
• Evidence of professional development and continuous updating of skills and knowledge.
