Role Overview
Senior IT Engineer at Egis Group, Kuwait City, Kuwait. This role manages, maintains, and optimizes IT infrastructure supporting port and terminal operations, with responsibility for leading technical initiatives, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring system reliability and security.

Role Purpose
To lead the design, implementation, and optimization of IT infrastructure supporting port and terminal operations while mentoring technical staff, ensuring system reliability, security, and compliance with industry standards in a dynamic maritime environment.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure & Systems Management
- Design, implement, and maintain port and terminal IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and communication systems
- Manage and optimize database systems that support port operations and logistics management
- Monitor system performance, capacity, and security; implement improvements and upgrades as needed
Security & Compliance
- Develop and execute IT security protocols and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
- Manage relationships with IT vendors and service providers to ensure quality support and cost-effectiveness
Technical Support & Problem Resolution
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide timely resolutions to minimize operational downtime
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices relevant to port and terminal operations
Project & Team Leadership
- Lead IT projects from planning through implementation, ensuring efficient delivery and resource management
- Mentor and supervise junior IT engineers and technical staff, providing guidance and performance feedback
Stakeholder & Documentation Management
- Collaborate with port operations teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
- Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation and standard operating procedures
Qualifications & Experience
- 7+ years of IT infrastructure management experience, with at least 3 years in a senior or leadership capacity
- Proven expertise in network administration, system administration, and server management
- Strong knowledge of port and terminal operations systems or similar logistics-focused IT environments
- Experience with IT security frameworks, compliance standards, and risk management
- Proficiency in database administration and optimization
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical problems and implement effective solutions
- Experience with IT project management methodologies and tools

- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

- Proficiency in scripting and automation tools (preferred)
- Experience with cloud infrastructure and containerization technologies (preferred)
- Knowledge of IT Service Management (ITSM) frameworks (preferred)
- Familiarity with maritime industry operations and port management systems (preferred)
