Role Overview
Senior GIS Solution Architect at VAM Systems, Bahrain.

VAM Systems is a Business Consulting, IT Solutions and Services company with operations in UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, USA, Australia, Singapore, and India.
Role Purpose
Plan the direction and oversee the operation of a high-performing GIS development team. Collaborate with the team to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support all GIS projects. Lead the design, development, and implementation of GIS software solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Planning & Architecture
- Plan the strategic direction of GIS development initiatives.
- Design GIS software solutions aligned with business requirements.
- Establish service-oriented and cloud-based implementation patterns.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Oversee the operation of a high-performing GIS development team.
- Collaborate with team members to identify and recommend GIS solutions.
- Partner with technical peers, project managers, and customers to align on objectives.
Implementation & Support
- Develop and implement GIS software solutions.
- Support all GIS projects throughout their lifecycle.
- Architect ArcGIS Server Advanced Enterprise solutions.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in software architecture, Enterprise GIS implementation, and System Integration, preferably from a large systems integration firm.
- Bachelor's degree in GIS, Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
- ESRI Technical Certifications – System Design (preferred).
Skills & Competencies
GIS & Esri Technologies
- Advanced knowledge of ArcGIS Server Advanced Enterprise architecture.
- Expertise in Map Tiling and Caching.
- Proficiency with Esri Portal for ArcGIS and ArcGIS Online.
- Knowledge of Esri ArcObjects.
- Proficiency with Esri ArcGIS Desktop 10x.
- Knowledge of Esri ArcSDE, Oracle 11g, and 12c geodatabases.
- Expertise in developing Feature Services, Geocode Services, Geometry Services, Geoprocessing Services, Image Services, KML Services, Mobile Data Services, and OGC Services (WMS, WFS, etc.).
- Knowledge of IT security concepts and implementation patterns within Esri technology.
Web & Application Development
- Strong proficiency in Web Application Development using JavaScript, .NET, FLEX, Silverlight, and HTML.
- Experience with industry-standard technologies including HTML, CSS, XML, XSLT, Git, HTML5, and Dojo.
- Mobile Device Development for iOS, Android, and Windows Phone (plus).
Architecture & Methodologies
- Strong knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA).
- Strong knowledge of Agile Methodologies and Scrum.
Database Technologies
- Expertise in RDBMS such as Oracle related to design and development activities.
Communication & Soft Skills
- Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas to other technical peers, non-technical project managers, and customers.
- Highly proficient in technical writing.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.
Additional Information
- Joining timeframe: 4 weeks (maximum 6 weeks).
- Selected candidate will join VAM Systems – Bahrain and be deputed to one of the leading Government Organizations in Bahrain.
