Role Overview
Senior Engineer - Roads & Highways at WSP Middle East in Dubai/Sharjah, focused on technical design and delivery of roads and highways packages for large-scale infrastructure and land development projects across the Emirate.

Role Purpose
To lead the technical design and coordinated delivery of fully integrated roads and highways solutions for complex infrastructure and land development projects, ensuring compliance with UAE authority standards and seamless collaboration across multiple disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
Roads & Highways Design
- Prepare and lead detailed design of roads and highways infrastructure, including local roads, arterials, junctions, interchanges, and access roads.
- Develop design layouts, alignments, profiles, cross-sections, and construction details in accordance with UAE authority standards.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant local manuals, specifications, and international best practice.
Multidisciplinary Coordination
- Coordinate with internal and external disciplines including utilities, drainage, traffic, structures, street lighting, landscaping, and public realm teams.
- Identify and resolve design clashes and interface issues to ensure fully coordinated and buildable design outputs.
- Support design integration across infrastructure and land development packages.
Project Delivery & Technical Support
- Produce and review design calculations, drawings, and technical reports.
- Support project managers in achieving programme milestones, quality objectives, and deliverable schedules.
- Assist with authority submissions and respond to review comments in a timely and accurate manner.
Client & Authority Interface
- Participate in technical meetings, workshops, and design reviews with clients and Abu Dhabi authorities.
- Support coordination and approvals processes in line with authority requirements.
- Provide technical input and advice during project discussions and decision-making.
Quality & Mentoring
- Ensure technical quality and compliance of all deliverables in line with internal QA/QC procedures.
- Provide guidance and support to junior engineers and graduates within the Roads & Highways team.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Master's degree preferred).
- 7+ years of professional experience in roads and highways design.
- Proven experience delivering infrastructure and land development projects in the UAE.
- Strong understanding of local authority standards, approval processes, and design requirements.
- Experience coordinating with multiple disciplines on complex infrastructure projects.
Skills & Competencies
- Proficiency in relevant design software including Civil 3D, AutoCAD, MX, OpenRoads, or similar.
- Strong technical, communication, and coordination skills.
