Role Overview

Senior Engineer, Petroleum at ADNOC. This role plans and coordinates the activities and input of a team of multidisciplinary petroleum development professionals involved in developing, monitoring, and ensuring timely execution of drilling operations in assigned field.

Role Purpose

To lead petroleum development operations by planning and coordinating multidisciplinary teams, managing well completion strategies, optimizing production systems, monitoring drilling activities, and ensuring timely execution of field operations in alignment with company objectives and international standards.

Key Responsibilities

Well Completion & Design

• Generate completion conceptual designs and define completion requirements in line with production and injection strategy for wells.
• Evaluate and perform artificial lift design for oil producers.
• Finalize well testing strategy, monitor, and evaluate testing results.
• Perform nodal analysis for production system optimization.
• Recommend and plan special tests or test runs of projects prior to field-wide or reservoir implementation.

Production Monitoring & Optimization

• Monitor well performance on a daily basis, diagnose associated issues, and evaluate optimization opportunities.
• Identify opportunities for production optimization in the production system.
• Prepare available production and injection potential on a monthly basis based on flow test results, rig activity bar chart, and hook-up and commissioning schedule.
• Follow up on gas and water injection and ensure adherence to required specifications and quantities.
• Establish order of priority for opening depleted wells to obtain required field offtake, taking into consideration reservoir constraints and injection/production balance ratio.

Studies & Data Management

• Support studies team in pilot hole data acquisition planning, execution, and evaluation.
• Aid reservoir teams in designing and performing pressure transient analysis.
• Undertake studies to evaluate available alternatives and define design parameters for upgrading, debottlenecking, and enhancing capacity of existing facilities to meet set targets.
• Create and maintain database for wells covering all operational job details, data acquired, well tests, pressure history, and optimization work performed.
• Ensure the agreed plan for wells is being followed and highlight any deviations required.

Operations & Technical Support

• Monitor drilling activities, communicate concerns to drilling teams, and provide technical support for smooth running of operations.
• Coordinate investigation of problems related to production technology and recommend appropriate solutions, including use of new equipment, logging, testing, production techniques, and studies.
• Review application of new technology in areas related to production, injection, and artificial lifts.
• Direct and participate in feasibility studies to recommend adoption of new techniques and equipment.

Team Leadership & Development

• Plan, supervise, and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives.
• Train and develop assigned staff on relevant skills to enable proficiency and delivery of section objectives.

Budget & Performance

• Provide input for preparation of functional budgets and assist in implementation of approved budgets and work plans to deliver section objectives.
• Investigate and highlight any significant variances to support effective performance and cost control.
• Contribute to achievement of approved performance objectives for the function in line with company performance framework.

Process Improvement & Innovation

• Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve quality and efficiency of operational processes.
• Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with best industry standards to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function.

Compliance & Reporting

• Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures, and controls and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices, and ADNOC Code of Practices.
• Implement approved section and department policies, processes, systems, standards, and procedures to support execution of section and department work programs in line with company and international standards.
• Provide inputs to prepare section MIS and progress reports for management.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor degree in petroleum engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in all aspects of petroleum engineering operations.
• Professional certifications as applicable.
