Role Overview
Senior Electrical Engineer - Greenfield at KBR, based in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The role will be based at either the Client's Office or the Contractor's Office in support of a major Offshore Project.

Role Purpose
The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design, engineering, execution, and commissioning support of electrical systems for ADNOC Offshore Greenfield developments. The role ensures all electrical engineering activities are performed in accordance with ADNOC standards, international codes, project specifications, safety requirements, and project schedules. The incumbent shall provide technical leadership during FEED, Detailed Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Pre-commissioning, Commissioning, and Start-up phases of offshore facilities, including wellhead towers, offshore platforms, central processing facilities, substations, and associated infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Design
- Lead and execute electrical engineering activities for Greenfield offshore oil and gas projects.
- Develop and review single line diagrams (SLD).
- Develop and review load lists.
- Develop and review electrical equipment datasheets.
- Develop and review power system studies.
- Develop and review cable schedules.
- Develop and review cable routing drawings.
- Develop and review earthing and lightning protection designs.
- Develop and review hazardous area classification requirements.
- Design and review power generation, transmission and distribution systems.
- Assess electrical system performance, reliability, and integrity throughout project lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with ADNOC standards, IEC, IEEE, NFPA, API and relevant international codes.
Power System Engineering
- Perform and review load flow studies.
- Perform and review short circuit studies.
- Perform and review motor starting analysis.
- Perform and review relay coordination studies.
- Perform and review arc flash studies.
- Perform and review harmonic analysis.
- Perform and review transient stability studies.
- Validate electrical network configurations and equipment sizing.
- Review vendor calculations and simulation reports.
Equipment Engineering
- Manage engineering and selection of gas turbine generators.
- Manage engineering and selection of diesel generators.
- Manage engineering and selection of HV/LV switchgear.
- Manage engineering and selection of transformers.
- Manage engineering and selection of UPS systems.
- Manage engineering and selection of battery chargers.
- Manage engineering and selection of VFDs.
- Manage engineering and selection of motors.
- Manage engineering and selection of lighting systems.
- Manage engineering and selection of cathodic protection interfaces.
- Coordinate with vendors during design, manufacturing, FAT and SAT activities.
Multidiscipline Coordination
- Interface with Process, Instrumentation, Mechanical, Structural, Telecom and HSE teams.
- Resolve technical issues and manage engineering interfaces.
- Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews and HAZOP/HAZID workshops.
Procurement Support
- Prepare and review technical requisitions, bid evaluations and purchase recommendations.
- Evaluate supplier technical offers and participate in vendor meetings.
- Review vendor drawings and documentation within project timelines.
Construction & Commissioning Support
- Provide engineering support during construction and installation phases.
- Review method statements, inspection plans and field engineering queries.
- Participate in pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up activities.
- Witness FAT, SAT and commissioning tests as required.
Safety & Quality
- Ensure compliance with ADNOC HSE requirements and project quality management systems.
- Promote safe design principles and asset integrity throughout project execution.
- Participate in design safety reviews and risk assessments.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Master's Degree is advantageous.
- Professional Engineering registration or equivalent certification is preferred.
- Minimum 15 years of electrical engineering experience in Oil & Gas projects.
- At least 8 years in Greenfield Offshore EPC/EPCM projects.
- Strong ADNOC Offshore, ADNOC Onshore, Saudi Aramco, QatarEnergy or major international operator project experience preferred.
- Experience covering FEED, Detailed Design, Construction and Commissioning phases.
- Proven track record in large-scale offshore development projects.
