Senior EHS Manager

Role Overview

Senior EHS Manager at GE VERNOVA, based across 14 work sites in Saudi Arabia. This role reports functionally to a PCS EHS leader and collaborates with other GEV Saudi Arabia businesses to ensure a unified EHS approach.

Role Purpose

Manage all environment, health, and safety matters for the SEC2 BULK program spanning 14 work sites across Saudi Arabia, driving strategic EHS frameworks, regulatory compliance, and a strong safety culture across multicultural teams and operations.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Framework Development

• Lead and develop strategic EHS frameworks aligned with GEV standards.
• Develop and implement the Project EHS Plan and site procedures from pre-mobilization to demobilization.
• Work with the Program EHS Leader and other GEV EHS teams in KSA to coordinate unified EHS approach.
• Experience in resource planning and development of core processes, procedures, and long-term project planning.

Governance & Compliance

• Ensure GEV, legal, and customer compliance across assigned scope.
• Ensure compliance with local laws and regulations.
• Drive implementation of GEV, regulatory, and customer EHS expectations within project activities, including at customer sites and workshops.
• Consolidate and drive EHS data across operations.
• Ensure all internal and external EHS reporting is completed on time and with accuracy.

Risk Assessment & Audit

• Implement and conduct audit programs to identify existing or potential EHS hazards and liabilities.
• Determine corrective or preventative measures from audit findings.
• Conduct journey management surveys, site audit inspections, and accommodation/canteen audits.
• Coordinate with Regional EHS Leader on incident investigation and ensure that investigations of accidents and compliance incidents are conducted, documented, and reported as required.

Performance & Culture

• Own all EHS KPIs and STOP WORK culture across assigned scope.
• Develop strong working relationships with operational team and drive expected EHS performance and culture across all operations.
• Actively support the Project operational team in EHS matters.
• Coordinate GEV site EHS programs, including Life Saving Rules and Contractor Management.
• Assist GEV Site Manager, Supervisors, and Subcontractors in implementing EHS programs.

Team & Resource Management

• Hire and train EHS resources to lead multicultural organizations and teams.
• Ensure appropriate resources are available across assigned scope.

Training & Development

• Coordinate delivery of EHS training as required.

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree in engineering, environmental science, safety management, or other EHS-related technical discipline from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum 8 years of work experience in EHS, with specific focus on energy projects in Saudi Arabia.
• Experience leading EHS program development, implementation, and leadership with focus on business segments such as electric power or similar industrial sector.
• Prior experience working on Saudi Energy (SE) projects in an EHS capacity is highly desirable.

Skills & Competencies

• Ability to lead and develop strategic frameworks.
• Ability to lead EHS program development, implementation, and management.
• Robust background in EHS contract management to ensure compliance and effective oversight.
• Deep technical knowledge and proven track record in contractor prequalification processes.
• Experience managing teams cross-functionally and in global multi-cultural organizations.
• Strong knowledge of and experience with major environmental regulatory and permitting programs addressing air quality, water quality, hazardous chemical management, and industrial safety.
• Experience with and knowledge of independent standards organizations and certification programs such as ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical reports and regulatory documents or standards, make sound judgments, and offer effective solutions.
• Fluent in Arabic and English languages.
• Strong consultant skills, including ability to influence and motivate leaders and employees through collaborative engagement and relationship building.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• High energy, motivation, and commitment to take personal ownership of issues and drive them to exceptional outcomes.

Additional Information

• Must have the legal right to work in Saudi Arabia without company sponsorship or time restrictions.
• Ability to travel up to 40% of the time.
• Professional certification or credentials in safety management, environmental management, industrial hygiene, or engineering issued by a recognized professional organization are desirable.
