Senior Draughtsman

Role Overview

Senior Draughtsman at Al Shirawi Group. This role produces architectural and interior design shop drawings from design through to completion, coordinating across multiple disciplines and supporting both small independent projects and large collaborative initiatives.

Role Purpose

Deliver accurate, constructible shop drawings that meet project requirements and contractual timelines by coordinating with internal departments, material engineers, production teams, and site operations to ensure designs are technically sound, cost-effective, and executable.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Drawing Production

• Produce architectural and interior design shop drawings independently for small projects.
• Produce architectural and interior design shop drawings in collaboration with architectural technicians on large projects.
• Maintain and update RFIs (Request for Information) and CVIs (Change Variation Instructions) supported with 2D and 3D CAD illustrations and hand sketches.

Coordination & Collaboration

• Coordinate with the material engineer on various materials while detailing shop drawings.
• Coordinate with the in-house joinery production department while detailing joinery elements to ensure details are workable and cost-effective.
• Coordinate with the Operations team (Site engineers and Project Managers) to provide adequate drawings for site execution work.
• Coordinate pre- and post-QS (Quantity Surveyor) activities to ensure technical details are correct.

Site Support & Quality Assurance

• Make site visits and assist the construction and production teams with technical issues.
• Attend internal progress meetings and on-site meetings (if required) to ensure technical drawings are produced effectively and approved within contractual time.

Documentation & Administration

• Maintain and organize project files, schedules, and specifications.
• Ensure all documentation and information received from the main contractor, suppliers, client, authorities, consultants, and subcontractors are filed according to the Technical Department filing procedure.

General

• Handle any other design jobs as delegated by the Head of Department.

Skills & Competencies

• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Strong knowledge of construction drawings.
• Ability to produce 2D and 3D CAD illustrations.
• Hand sketching ability.
• Technical coordination and problem-solving.

Qualifications & Experience

• Proven experience as a Senior Draughtsman or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of architectural and interior design shop drawing production.
• Experience coordinating across multiple disciplines.
