Role Purpose

Accelerate and govern the adoption of AI across Mashreq Digital's engineering practice by building, rolling out and maintaining the tooling, standards and controls that allow squads to deliver software with AI assistance safely, consistently and cost-effectively.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Code Delivery

• Write, review and ship production code as a practicing engineer.
• Earn credibility with the squads through direct software engineering contributions.
• Apply engineer knowledge to AI-assisted development.

AI Operations & Governance

• Own the operational health of AI engineering, including adoption metrics, output quality, token and license consumption, and cost per unit of delivery.
• Build and roll out AI tooling, standards and controls for squad use.
• Maintain governance frameworks to ensure consistent and cost-effective delivery.

Enablement & Knowledge Transfer

• Document, train and run enablement programs so good practice is scaled rapidly across squads.

Alignment & Collaboration

• Work with Principal Engineers to ensure AI practice is aligned with engineering standards across Retail Banking Group.
• Report to the Digital Engineering Chapter Lead.

Qualifications & Experience

• Depth in either frontend or backend software engineering.
• Practicing software engineer with hands-on production experience.
