Role Overview
Senior Civil/Structural Designer – Onshore position with KBR Inhouse Engineering in Abu Dhabi, UAE at the KBR Office.

Role Purpose
The Senior Civil/Structural Designer is responsible for producing high-quality civil and structural design deliverables for oil and gas projects. The role involves preparing 2D drawings, 3D models, and related design documentation in accordance with project specifications, international codes, and client standards, while coordinating closely with engineers and other disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
Design Deliverables
- Produce detailed civil and structural drawings and 3D models for oil and gas facilities.
- Deliver steel structures including pipe racks, platforms, shelters, equipment supports, and buildings.
- Design concrete structures and foundations including reinforced concrete detailing.
- Design underground services, trenches, culverts, roads, paving and drainage.
- Prepare general arrangement drawings, detailed drawings, reinforcement drawings, fabrication drawings and bar bending schedules as required.
- Develop and maintain 3D models using software such as AVEVA E3D / S3D, PDS, or equivalent.
Compliance & Standards
- Ensure all design deliverables comply with project specifications, international codes including AISC, ACI, BS, Eurocodes and client standards such as ADNOC and ARAMCO or equivalent.
Coordination & Integration
- Coordinate with Civil/Structural Engineers to accurately reflect design calculations and design intent in the drawings and models.
- Interface with Piping, Mechanical, Electrical and other disciplines to resolve clashes and ensure design consistency.
- Perform clash detection and support model reviews.
Quality & Change Management
- Check drawings and models prepared by junior designers to ensure quality and consistency.
- Incorporate design changes and respond to technical queries and site queries in a timely manner.
- Support the preparation of material take-offs from drawings and models.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 10–12 years of experience as a Civil/Structural Designer in the oil and gas or petrochemical industry.
- Proven experience across Concept Select, FEED, Detailed Engineering, EPC and brownfield modification phases.
- Experience with ADNOC Group, Middle East or comparable major operator.
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Drafting, or related discipline.
Skills & Competencies
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD for 2D drafting.
- Proficiency in Civil3D.
- Proficiency in 3D modelling software including AVEVA E3D / S3D.
