Role Overview

Senior Consultant - Environmental Supervision at WSP in the Middle East. The role is project-based, on-site in a remote area in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Role Purpose

Provide environmental supervision, audits, and management systems expertise on a construction project in a remote location, ensuring contractor compliance with environmental requirements and overseeing the implementation of environmental governance throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Environmental Audits & Inspections

• Undertake environmental audits and inspections on site.
• Provide support and guidance to contractors on site to achieve compliance against the Project's environmental requirements.
• Undertake environmental reconnaissance surveys and pre-construction site assessments.

Environmental Management & Systems

• Regularly review and update the environmental management system and propose corrective actions as needed.
• Oversee the implementation of environmental management systems.
• Review and approve Construction and Social Environmental Management Plans (CESMPs), Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) reports, and other environmental studies as needed.

Reporting & Monitoring

• Prepare environmental monitoring and audit reports.
• Review weekly and monthly environmental reports from the contractors.

Incident Management & Investigation

• Report environmental incidents on site.
• Undertake necessary investigation and reporting of environmental incidents.
• Follow up on corrective actions and plans.

Stakeholder Engagement & Awareness

• Develop and implement a project-specific communication strategy.
• Implement environmental awareness campaigns and conduct environmental training as necessary.

Qualifications & Experience

• BSc and MSc degree in a relevant environmental or engineering discipline.
• 10+ years' experience working in environmental supervision.
• Extensive experience working with environmental management systems, preferably ISO 14001 certified.
• Experience in providing technical alternatives and solutions to technical clarifications for clients.
• Significant proofing, editing and report collation experience.
